    He's 32. His speed is down. His arm strength is down. A lot of his value is tied into his defense and that is going in the wrong direction. Now that he's also struggling with the bat, his numbers will fall off the table. Being a switch hitter at Fenway (with a pull approach for a LHB) wouldn't help him either. 3 years for Lindor? Go for it. 5? It's a lot...

    The Marlins have a very Milwaukee-esque lineup. Their SP could be better though! The Pirates have a top 5 offense in baseball.

    I can write off the last year of the contract and have him sit home. Just give me 4 years of valuable production TBH. Not every middle aged SS (is he a 2b now) can do that.

    Not many good bats get moved at the deadline. It's not so easy to find one, especially with expanded playoffs.

    That doesn't necessarily make his contract worth it! The 15th SS from 22-25 only had 7.6 fWAR. That's not worth 32 AAV!

    I am not going to forecast what Breslow would do. I think the Red Sox internal model is fed acid hourly. Kristian Campbell: he's actually a good defender Romy/Masa platoon at DH: that should be as good as David Ortiz Jarren Duran: mvp caliber player, untradeable Mickey Gasper: he can play catcher! Driveline: have them teach every player to only pull the ball in the air and swing for the fences every time Trevor Story: actually was still good at SS! Kiké Hernandez: the greatest SS this organization has ever had!

    If you take Bello's opener starts out of the pen, their fWAR is middle of the road. It's an average pen IMO. They could use another arm if they really are serious about competing.

    $75k is nothing to this team. I know we joke about them not spending money, but it had everything to do with performance and the ASB. He already made $250k in roster bonuses previously. Even NESN states "Boston needed to clear space anyway with Brayan Bello back in MLB and Ranger Suarez on his way to healing, as well." Well duh, so not really about the money then.

    Duran has only 5 2b's in 297 PA's since 4/23. Only 1 in 189 PA's since 5/20.

    I'm glad Walker won. He looked cool as Hell and his parents were in attendance and gave a good story about him growing up sleeping with his mitt everyday since he was 3.

    His bb rate was up and his k rate was down. It's one of those cases where we just have to trust that the people watching the guys behind the scenes are seeing much more of what's going on with a player than what is happening on field. He's been ok, but it's a little bit of a surprising DFA. They must believe that Bello is going to stick in the pen for a while and are going to run out of room out there?

    Please, he's asking for specifics! You know, the things that aren't typically leaked. Seems like a fair demand even though all reporting in the offseason disagree with his current assertion.

    It was fun watching him with the Bowser bat. The crowd was HOT. Can't believe the Sox coach pitched him up and in at the end. Brutal.

    If the Sox want to hold onto the young arms long term, they will need Bello down the stretch to take on a bunch of innings. I'm dubious on the pitching holding up, but we'll see.
