  1. Heading in the wrong direction. Whitlock > Slaten > Watson
  2. So many pitchers pop up and have a great 4-5 year stretch. Not being able to keep it up for a full decade is what weeds out the non-HOFers.
  3. If a guy like Santana is getting in, then Brett Saberhagen has to get in.
  4. Underrated such that he's about as good as Nolan Ryan, but people don't think that. Greinke just ended up retiring sooner. Better ERA+, WHIP, K/BB, bWAR/162.
  5. 100% Enmanuel Valdez's fault.
  6. I was clearly referencing Story being at 2b because that's the move I've wanted Cora to make for quite some time now.
  7. That's how it worked if you go through the transaction log for Bastardo and Paez. There were questions on if the Sox would strike a deal with the other teams so that the players could be returned in order to bypass the waiver claim process. It eventually didn't matter.
  8. No, he gets put through waivers. Any other team can claim him prior to him going back to whatever his previous team was. He would keep the Rule 5 rights if claimed.
  9. HOF Jaws has ranked 30th all time. He's 25th all time in bWAR. He's 69th all time in WAR7Adj. Guys in the Nolan Ryan tier: Jenkins, Scherzer, Greinke, Schilling, Mussina, Roberts, Glavine, Kershaw, Marichal. Ryan was a good to great pitcher every year, but didn't have the peak that upper echelon HOFers had.
  10. Helps when you are pitching to Benito Santiago and have Robbie Alomar and Gary Templeton right behind you.
  11. Sox were 10th in fWAR at 2b in '22. 🤔
  12. I was just listing several options available to them. Ryan Watson has been fairly disappointing. I don't know if there are different expectations for him, but I think the Sox can do better than just holding onto one roster spot for a clear mop up guy. Unless they seem him as a future 7th/8th inning guy, the years of control don't make sense. Who cares? His statcast page gets worse every time he pitches.
  13. This is all Beacon's fault. Boo Beacon! Bring back Carmine!
  14. In order to add, someone would have to come off: Casas - 60 day DFA/Deal an IFer (Seigler, Cheng, Sogard) DFA Watson Crawford - 60 day
  15. After KC went down, that was 2b last year 75% of the time.
  16. Romy/Hamilton platoon. Yeah.
  17. Just put him at #2 now and get him used to hitting there.
  18. I don't believe the promotion from AA to AAA is as big of an adjustment for hitters, so he may not see a second half flameout.
  19. They were happy with Mayer at 3b for all of the offseason if Bregman didn't sign. Once they found out that Romy was out, they had to pivot and acquire Durbin. Ranger was the settle.
  20. "Ranger Suarez" was the settle. That is what everyone said at the time he was signed.
  21. Verlander and Kershaw are pretty close to me. I'd have both of them behind Pedro, Clemens, Big Unit and Maddux.
  22. Having 5 players who can't all play at once is causing them to be out of rhythm and underperform. Duran looks terrible. Anthony is off to an awful start. Bad roster construction!
  23. The settle was Suarez I thought? Durbin's deal just replaces a bullpen contract or whoever else Breslow would've acquired at that point in the offseason.
