  1. I feel so bad for the CEO's and their $100M golden parachutes. The rich are getting richer at an ever increasing rate. Everyone else is left behind. You don't have to be a loser to see that. You just have to be able to look past your nose. Crushing school loan debt. Overinflated housing costs. Soaring gas prices. Groceries are 15% more than last year. Too bad most people's income hasn't kept up with those costs. It's only natural that self-involved boomers wouldn't be able to see this. If the federal goverment can't meet in the middle to cut programs AND raise taxes, we're probably f'd. They're to busy playing a stupid two party system game that doesn't work. But this is a Red Sox board and maybe we should just keep it in that genre.
  2. Just make Aceves the closer. I'd rather him than Bard.
  3. I don't know why you're all worried. Craig Hanson is our future closer. We got this s*** on lockdown...
  4. The grammar and poor spelling says a lot about the anti-protest agenda.
  5. Exactly 1 major transaction for a $ amount the Sox wouldn't have touched. Paps is a loss, but I think FO was ok with letting him walk (whether us posters agree with the decision or not).
  6. Elkton, I agree 100%. people should be aware of what they post. However, my point is that certain people shouldn't take everything so personally. It seems like SBF has had problems on numerous boards. If he didn't take everything to heart, maybe the drama would go away. If you are on the internet you will be ragged on. It's just life. We spend enough time posting on here that we tend to be less formal and more like a bunch of friends hanging out. Just don't get worked up over a post. It's not worth the effort.
  7. I think some people just need to not take everything as a personal slight. I know some of the older posters grew up around US Grant and probably had many duels in their time. Just let me quote Eckersly "that's history pal." I don't think RFFL stepped over any line. If you don't like something, you are better off ignoring it. We don't carry duelling pistols anymore. We deck someone and hug it out.
  8. Your contributions are great, just a little wordy. If they were a little more concise I'd have the time to read all of them.
  9. I can't believe I just read "respect your elders." WTF? It's the internet. Get over it. Some of these new posters really need to tone it down. This isn't the UN, it's a messageboard.
  10. Jumg, how is your last paragraph only two sentences? Run on city... Great points though.
  11. Well you guys are a little less uppity today than when you all thought the Gonzo deal fell through... The overreactions that day were beautiful. I'm not bothered by this. Closers are easier to replace than a SP.
  12. Hated the guy anyway.
  13. Who even remembers Quintana in RF? He only played 80 games there. He'll always be a chubby 1b to me. Remember him from the first few years of going to see the PawSox too.
  14. Should be an 80s - 90s list.
  15. Seeing that there are numerous different calculations for WAR, I'll disagree. You don't think there is subjectivity in how the calculation was created?
  16. And statistics are up to as much subjectivity as the eyeball test. Personal bias affects everything.
  17. My point is that we're less than 2 weeks away from the WS. Expecting the FO to have jumped into FA willy-nilly isn't realistic. No major transactions have occurred for any team. The Sox haven't been left behind. Cherington also has been noted as being more patient than Theo. The offseason isn't going to be over by Thanksgiving. Now that's being a realist.
  18. Less of a demand for new managers around the league. I think they are going to pick the entire coaching staff before anything is announced. A move for Beltran may happen sooner.
  19. Tek would be a horrible manager for this team. He's not a leader. He didn't call anyone out last year. In fact, CC called him out. He's just not a leader. Also, SBF needs to step down from the ledge. I'm not sure you understand how the offseason works. No team is "wheeling and dealing" right now. Things take time. I'd rather the Sox be patient and find the right people rather than get another Lackey. They shouldn't jump into FA just to appease fans.
  20. Last time the Sox won the series, Coco was being benched for Ellsbury.
  21. This contradicts your Jed Lowrie crush.
  22. I like Sandy Alomar or Tony Pena.
  23. Joe Morgan still available?
