  1. I'm going with no. Boston fans forgave him in 87 and again when he returned in 90. The lazy national media just kept running with it because it's an easy story.
  2. I didn't come to any end all be all conclusion. Just liked what he is saying for now. It was a good start. No matter what I'll give him a few months of games before I really am able to evaluate him.
  3. No, I wasn't sure about Mr Moustache. Those Mets teams turned sour at the end. Most reporters spoke of how intelligent he is and how "he knows it." I figured that he would come out and it would be all about him. That it would be the Bobby Sox not the Red Sox. He was subdued and respectful. I thought he would think his s*** didn't stink, but he came out and was pashionate and gracious. I ate it up because I'm a sucker.
  4. I wasn't a big proponent of his, but he came off rather well. I'm impressed so far.
  5. Certain posters mix up hyperbole and "truthiness." Just trying to figure out where some newer posters are coming from. I've read enough of your posts to follow your POV undercurrent and respect it. I could care less about the comment itself, just need to figure out the accompanying agenda. (I'm also board as I've been at Brigham and Women's for the past two days.)
  6. If the FO gives more than a flying f$&@ about a message board, then they are in the wrong field. I hope they don't give two shits about whatever we say on here.
  7. Baggage is one thing, claiming he was high during an interview is another. Tito won two WS. He needs a year or two off from managing to recharge and will get another managing job.
  8. If he's not ready to be a closer now, he'll never be. He'd be great for a smaller market team.
  9. 2001 was an unlikeable team. They just quit on the season earlier than 2011.
  10. Was it Steve Phillips? He's a grade a moron.
  11. Connie Mack would be a terrible hire. He's dead.
  12. If they passed on him, it wasn'tbecause he was high.
  13. Lived in El Segundo. Moved back to MA in June 2010. I miss the weather, The Counter, Wendys Place, and the West Coast breweries. I don't miss the smog, the traffic, and getting tar on my feet everytime I went to the beach. Glad to be back home.
  14. F the budget. Sox are a big market team with premium ticket prices and their own network. Break the bank. Spend spend spend. I want Buehrle.
  15. I just worry he'll struggle the 2nd time through the order.
  16. I'm all for adding 3-4 more RPs. Broxton just isn't the right fit. It all depends on where Aceves and Bard are slotted though. Personally, I'd rather them in the 9th and 8th respectively.
  17. When s*** like this is posted I really start to question the intelligence around here. I think this is a prime example of the garbage User Name was complaining about earlier. Having an opinion is great. Posting Sox-fiction masturbatory snuff daydreams is just stupid.
  18. I saw him everyday for 3 years. He's another Jenks.
  19. Unsubstantiated? Paps had been clammoring for FA for the past few years. He was chomping at the bit to have one great season and get a big money deal elsewhere. He was pissed when the Sox wanted to bring in Rivera. If he really wanted to stay in Boston, he would have come back to the Sox to match the Phills offer. He didn't. He had his bags packed long ago. Hiring a manager doesn't right the ship. It's almost inconsequential.
  20. Why can't they name him today????? This whole thing is an epic of farsical proportions!!!!!!
  21. He's a career contrarian and s*** stirrer. Anyone who reads him is a dope.
