  1. Yeah, I hope he's not Kevin Maas, but it's way too early to tell. He should spend the whole year catching at AAA and start for Boston in 2013.
  2. Too bad that BV has already done his share of kissing Josh's ass in interviews and backtracking on what he said last year.
  3. September was entirely on the players. I can see how ST could have affected the slow start, but not the finish.
  4. Not Salty. CC should be 2nd or 7th.
  5. Because he's RH. Personally, I'd expect whoever is catching to hit 8 or 9 and not be on deck when Ortiz is up. My point is that Salty won't likely bat right after Ortiz.
  6. With Shoppach hitting lefties, I don't see how Salty's production (or lack thereof) would affect pitches thrown to Ortiz, since he won't directly follow him in the lineup.
  7. I said "better" not "All Star."
  8. I prefer hockey teams that are not sexual inuendos.
  9. If the Sox get the same production out of every position they got last year (including bad CC, injured Youk, no RF) and only downgrade SS, wouldn't that still leave them towards the top of the league? I expect Salty, CC and Youk to be better this year. AGon should hit for more power. I expect Ortiz and Ells to take a step back. All in all, adding Iglesias won't kill the offense (which has been towards the top of the league since 03) and his glove will help get pitchers out of more jams with his slick fielding. Trading an offensive hit for an extra defensive out seems more like treading water than losing production.
  10. A weird signing for a cash strapped team like the A's.
  11. This has gotten a little play on sports radio here, but most Sox soccer fans already followed a team before NESN tried to shove tape delay Liverpool matches down our throats (not that NESN has better programming). The fact that this is even a minor distraction to Sox ownership is a little frustrating.
  12. I'm sorry Fred, but I just read all 151 posts of his and there isn't one glimmer of being happy about something. When all he brings to the table is "this sucks, that guy is an *******, rumpswabs, tub thumpers, etc.," people won't give him the benefit of the doubt. It's not our job to follow every poster from board to board to learn their backstory. All we know is what we read here. If he wants to be taken seriously, he needs add something more to Talksox than he currently does.
  13. I disagree, unless you're considering last season to be "recently." Remember how great those gamethreads were? It was a constant bitch fest with people posting crap like "eat a bag of dicks" and such.
  14. The dysfunction: too many cooks.
  15. Who has the time to post on multiple Sox boards? Are you people shut-ins?
  16. Fred, can you explain the difference between unconditional release and just letting someone go to FA? Honest question. What's the point in "releasing" someone if they're going to be a FA anyway?
  17. Exactly. And ownership's favorite fan are the ticket scalpers. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to tout a sellout streak.
  18. I agree with that. The Soxshould not function as a member of the Sister of the Poor. Are we talking about another $100M contract? Nope. A one year $10M deal isn't going to remotely kill their bottom line. Considering the sad 10-11 seasons, adding one more piece would have done a lot to generate goodwill with the fans.
  19. Hostile? Never. There's no reason to be upset over a messageboard.
