    I don't see that happening. That's basically 2nd/3rd starter production for most teams. He'll be lucky to get 10 wins and a 4.25 ERA. He seems like more of an 8-8 4.60 guy right now. Still better than Lackey and Wake.

    Per Sean McAdam, the all time score against NU is 95 - 2. Tazawa looked bad against BC. Doubront was ok. Lavarnway can clearly mash bad pitching. Can't wait to see Beckett pitch today...

    Also, Yankees, Nats and Tigers all played against college teams yesterday. It's the 22nd time they've played BC. It's a 7 inning exhibition.

    The grapefruit league games haven't started yet. Playing against BU and NU at least simulates game situations. I don't see the problem with it.

    The Wild Card game winner is at home for games 1-2 for the Division series. That's ********. Also, baseball should never be played in November. MLB either needs to schedule double headers or cut the season back to 154.

    Paps' slider and splitter are horrible. I'm not sure about Bard's changeup, but he has a really good slider. It's definitely going to be an interesting transition.

    Back on topic, I don't see Salty being moved midseason. My guess is he'll be the starter through September, Lavs will spend the entire season in Pawtucket hitting bombs and working on his D, in 2013 the starter is Lavs with Shoppach as the backup.

    I'm not looking to take anyone down a peg. I'm just offering advice that Fred will get along better with others if he limits the I told you so's and I was a scout blah blah blah.

    That's nothing. I have predicted the win loss totals for the Sox for 6 out of the last 7 years. In 1978, I told my dad Bucky Dent would hit a HR, I was not yet 2. In 1986, I told my parents that the Sox were going to beat the Angels and we needed to get back home (we had run out after Hendu knocked a ball off his glove and over the wall). During the 99 playoffs, I had a dream where Pedro pitched a no no out of the bullpen and Troy O'Leary hit a grandslam. In 03, when Grady Little didn't take Pedro out, I knew the game was over so I turned the tv off and said wait til next year. I used a Ouija board to tell me about the Nomar trade and saw the Dave Roberts steal in some tea leaves. In 2007, I perdicted the outcome and score for each playoff game. Last year, I saw with my third eye the coming of our lord and savior Lavarnway and of his glorious 2 homeruns. In fact, I know exactly what will happen this year, but don't want to ruin the surprise for all of you.

    I'm not old enough to remember him as a player, but WEEI hasn't been the same since he passed.

    I think he'll be about league average and his production should trend slightly upward. 90% of the board will want him tossed off the Tobin.

    Right now, Beckett is feeding the monster. We'll see if he can take a different approach and just leave 2011 in the past. Also, I hope his distractions this year are few and that he pitches like 2007 or 2011 (April - August).

    So Beckett was distracted over his wife's pregnancy last year (that's the excuse anyway). Aren't the 9 months after pregnancy way more distracting than the nine when you wife/gf is pregnant?

    I like the training idea, but not sure if CC will be seeing the same bounces off the wall.

    Does anyone else think the mini Fenway they've built cheapens the original's uniqueness? Same dimensions, Ted Williams statue, gate locations, etc. "Fenway South" is kinda lame imo.

    It would have been dumb to not replace him. I'm not advocating Bard as #3.
