  1. Most accountants now use neither paper nor pencil these days. I said good day...
  2. How do they rank in tv revenues and ticket prices? Just as high. More of a reason to open the purse strings.
  3. Your lack of originality is astounding. Good day, madame queen.
  4. Well madame queen, my point of contention with Fred has alwaysbeen as follows: don't call lifelong Sox fans polyannas, when you didn't become a fan yourself until the rise of pink hat nation. If someone is a Sox fan in Antartica, good for them. It's probably harder to get NESN up there. Also, the last time I worse an ass as a hat, it was of a nice booty chick and completely delightful. I've also worn boobs as sunglasses. They really kept me from squinting!
  5. How did you get that out of my post? Welcome to A700's world of make s*** up. Here's your crown queenie.
  6. The bullpen is fine, especially if they get Oswalt and move Aceves back. Thry have a SS. It's not Scutaro, but they have enough bodies to plug in. Personally, I let Iglesias start and be happy with him hitting 225. And to your ongoing banter about Wake and Tek, it's really up to them to hang their boots up. It'd be disrespectful to have a Tek and Wake appreciation day before they've announced their retirements. It'd be a slap in the face. Should they be invited to ST? Only if it's not in a player capacity.
  7. Why not? If it's on short term deals for Oswalt/Beltran/etc there's little harm in overspending. If it's on 4-5 year deals, no.
  8. Also, if you need flexibility, why trade a cheap Lowrie? That part, I don't get. I think people would be more comfortable with a Lowrie/Aviles platoon than what they have now. This only works if Melancon is lights out and Bard transforms into a SP.
  9. That's horrible logic. Ownership has money. They should spend it.
  10. Oh, I'd agree with that. LL seems to be a slimeball or just loves throwing people under the bus. I'm all for him going elsewhere.
  11. Limited resources? This is the Boston Red Sox, not Kansas City Royals.
  12. They talk, it's just Ben doesn't want to say "I'd like to get pitching but ownership is too cheap to do so as they are butthurt over the Lackey and Crawford signings."
  13. A700, people were freaking out and saying "the Sox are falling behind" 2 weeks into the offseason. It's just not a reasonable expectation to have major moves that early. It doesn't happen. Should he have had more done by Christmas, probably. However, what we are seeing this offseason is less a reflection of Ben being slow to move and more of a reflection of ownership being miserly. Letting Scutaro go because of $6M was dumb. Not signing a better SP just compounded the issue. Don't act like all this negative posting is soothsaying. We're still hearing garbage about Varitek and Wakefield, but those predictions haven't come true. Why not mention that? You're not going to because your whole internet gimmick is to constantly pat yourself on the back, but overlook the times you've been wrong. Everyone on here was in agreement about ownership needing to spend $$$ to get a decent SP. Clearly that didn't happen. Offseasons evolve and take time to develop. Expecting a full roster by Thanksgiving is beyond ridiculous. The only pitcher they lost out on was Buerhle at that point.
  14. Doubtful, I bet he wears Ortiz footie pj's to bed.
  15. Not really as SBF said that I would "weep" if it was proven that Francona lost games, because somehow I care more about a former manager than a baseball team I've followed my whole life. As I recall, this is someone who became a fan when he was 59 because of Fenway. He's stated that he teared up when given a vial of Fenway dirt. To me, that's just sad. He can say whatever he wants about the team, but talking about polyannas and criticizing fans who actually have been loyal to the team (not because of some pinkhattedness craze over the aura of Fenway) is just ripe for being put in his place. He's a johnny-come-lately (or pink hat) who thinks other fans are always in the wrong. To put it in perspective, 2/3rds of SBF's fanhood has been during Francona managed years. His vendetta against Tito is misguided. He should be thankful that his pinkhatdom came with 2 championships, rather than worry about another fan.
  16. Using your logic, Francona lost 10 games. Replacing him with BV means 10 more wins, or no? That's not a sneak attack. It's asking you a question about a point you've harped on endlessly. I think this team is a 93ish win team. Also, I haven't cried over the Sox since 86, which incidentally is still before your fanhood.
  17. So you're projecting a 100 win season then? Or do you want to adjust your Francona foibles comment?
  18. BS, enough people on here have blown the "playing for 3rd place" horn.
