  1. No. I didn't say that at all. I said A reason. And then asked if I really needed to explain 401ks to you.
  2. I think he was Plan A for a certain portion of the FO. The FO isn't necessarily united around Breslow's vision (see Bregman's signing last season).
  3. He's cheap because he's still pre-arb. LHB isn't ideal. I can't really speak to his defense as I don't watch the Mets much. Would the Sox keep Mayer at 3b and put Baty at 2b? Mets are planning to just make Baty a UTIL guy.
  4. I don't claim to know what happened to them at the Chinvat Bridge.
  5. If Anthony and Crochet get injured, the season is ovah.
  6. You want money NOW so that you can put it in investments NOW so you can have even more money later. Typically, people invest in a 401k because employers give you matching funds which is basically free money. I don't have to really explain 401ks to you do I? The "some people like to win" argument is different altogether.
  7. He was given the opportunity by Bregman. He was most likely told no by the rest of the org. It's an org-wide botch if that's the case and they really wanted him. The Sox continuing to do business that way is just dumb.
  8. You did not hear this. I believe you are lying. I bet you haven't even walked on a street corner recently.
  9. I think it's not fair to say Breslow botched it because I don't believe he really wanted Bregman here long term anyway (see: last offseason chatter, short term deal with opt outs, etc.). I think it's fair to say that the Sox botched it IF they really wanted Bregman (by this I mean the Cora, Sam leaning portion of the FO). Per all reports and what we have seen, he was Plan A for 3b and they have now fallen down the path towards several contingency plans which appear to be lesser than. It's a botch if they can't figure out 3b/2b with expediency (entire FO botch). If they have to give up additional prospects that they weren't planning on giving up in order to bring someone else on, it's a botch. It's a FO botch if they continue to have a roster that makes no sense (4 OFers AND Masa). This is a botch that goes back a few years. It's fair to call out multiple people for this. I think it can be both a botch and yet not a botch. The Schrodinger's Cat of botches. Honestly, we may not even have a clear answer when the full squad reports on the 15th.
  10. I've done my share of posting while imbibing, so who am I to judge? That's usually limited to gamethreads though.
  11. The problem is that the housing supply is closer to unlimited than MLB free agency. If you are trying to buy a house in only one neighborhood and one neighborhood only, you could be SOL over and over again if the bidding is competitive and you never go above your budget. That's where the Sox are at in FA IMO.
  12. How many years is this for? Is this postseason stats only?
  13. Why would anyone prefer the money later? Are they dumb? It also doesn't make sense to just hand wave all the reporting on the issue that you don't like as "Bregman's camp." C'mon man...
  14. Why would Bregman take the Cubs's offer if it wasn't much better? Bregman came back to the Sox to get them to up their offer and the Sox clearly didn't get close enough OR deal with the no trade clause issue. Honestly, I don't know what this argument is even about anymore. Some in the Sox FO wanted Bregman back badly and he's not here. I'm sure they are not happy about it today. They didn't get it done and there currently isn't a public plan on 2b/3b.
  15. Probably better than Jimi and Jeff since they are dead.
  16. Yes, he was rushed. No, it shouldn't have destroyed his confidence or meaningfully harmed his career in anyway.
  17. It should be at least an adequate fielder. I don't think he can be an absolute dog out there. He needs to be a dawg.
  18. Does Hamilton have a history of injuries?
  19. Option 2 just doesn't make sense as a roster. Option 1, Romy can platoon with Mayer at 2b. Masa can get majority of DH AB's. If Casas mashes at AAA, he can be called up and make a future Masa decision.
  20. The payroll expenses for LAD will be 250Mish. You wouldn't accrue an MLB player's salary based on CBT if they are paid with different terms.
  21. Yes, if making money is #1 then the cash spend is the most important number, thank you!!!
  22. The Angels agreed to restructure the contract so that he could retire ONE YEAR early. Moon was suggesting a player retire 3 years early and the team continue to pay them.
