  1. No. They pulled back from doing that since there was more of a need at 3b. See, it's not just internet commentators that are worried about Pablo at 3b...
  2. David Murphy is a fringe major leaguer at this point in his career. Stashing him on your roster is silly. You can always pick up a guy like that throughout the year for minimal cost.

    The Cubs

Theo's problem was that he couldn't figure out how to swim with the sharks (LL, Muppet Werner and Vlad Dracul). Francona was a great coach. He's the best Sox manager I've seen in my lifetime.
  4. But what about the 40 man roster implications?
  5. Source says Sox don't savor sucky Shields. Padres FO not putrid enough to ponder Panda.
  6. "Accidental..."

    The Cubs

f*** the Cubs and their s***** fanbase.
  9. If Pablo plays better than Shaw in April and May, he should be given the job for the rest of the season unless he shits the bed at some point.
  10. My thoughts about this team and about posters on this board are mutually exclusive. If DUMBrowski makes a smart move that this board frowns upon, it won't affect how I feel about it.
  11. It's higgly unlikely he would play that way. It's more likely that Shaw will out perform him. Pablo will need to make the most of his chances in the early going or he'll be toast.
  12. @jonheyman Scout on red sox prospect Sam travis: "the next Paul goldschmidt
  13. Except that Shaw outperformed Pablo last year too. This isn't a ST aberration. Pablo was the worst everyday player in the league last year and now his defense looks even worse. Ortiz has an almost 15 year track record of being one of the greatest hitters in the game. Even when Pablo was at his best, he was simply above average.
  14. Clearly he's going to get another shot since Erod is out and they didn't grab another starter in the offseason.
  15. And down the stretch last year, Kelly pitched like an adequate 3, not a #2.
  16. So does ST matter or not? Don't say Shaw shouldn't start when he's killing it in ST, but prop up Kelly for pitching ok in ST. He has a history of only pitching well for parts of a season. He hasn't put it together before. We can't be sure he'll do so now. Until he actually pitches like a #2, the argument is silly imo.
  17. Pablo isn't 2014 Pablo anymore. He's oldrr and fatter. The mileage on his body has taken its toll. He looks like avsolute garbage on the field. He'll be given the chance to start, but when he fails, I'm expecting to hear a lot of excuse making for it.
  18. The track record is more indicative of future performance than hypothetical upside.
  19. Kelly isn't a #2 or top starter.
  20. Kelly's career has proven that he's not a rotation guy.
  21. Why? Just curious. I have no idea how to separate moves between FO personnel and ownership.
  22. Well, I want Kelly in the pen anyway... Erod should spend some time in AAA with managed innings (easier to do down there). Plus, Buchholz will be on the DL by the AS break anyway.
  23. What character assassination has really gone on here? Calling Pablo fat?
  24. Unless you were on the Sox payroll, you simply can't know this for sure.
  25. How often is an "outstanding" player sent down? I can't think of one that was producing at a high level and sent down. If a player has options but is far outpacing the veteran, you move or DFA the veteran.
