  1. Scherzer, Price and Lester
  2. Allen Craig?
  3. 1. He has written off Rusney. 2. He is not concerned about 1b at all. 3. JBJ is considered an everyday player. 4. 3b is still a toss up.
  4. Pedroia is injured every year. This is a good possibility.
  5. Would they throw in Wil Myers?
  6. Holy s*** that's crazy...
  7. I wouldn't do that trade if they ate all of Shields' and Pablo's deals. The Sox aren't the sisters of the poor, they can afford a bad contract without dumping their best contracts...
  8. Oh my god... From today's Herald: "Holt will still move around the diamond, especially if Xander Bogaerts or Dustin Pedroia need a day off at shortstop or second base. Because Holt is the only backup middle infielder on the roster, Travis Shaw could get some reps at second base to protect the Sox in emergency situations."
  9. Jim Rice, Carl Yastrzemski, Ted Williams and Manny Ramirez are not walking through that door.
  10. Beninturdi and Pablo for Shields? Not a chance.
  11. Who would you prefer to be our opening day 3b and LF? Would you use a platoon at either position?
  12. It's one thing if he was just following a plan and letting the best players play. He seems to just be haphazardly deciding what they lineup would be. Maybe he has made his own thoughts known in the media, but is now singing a different tune with DUMBrowski and ownership itching for success in the near future? I'm ok with a platoon of Holt and Young in theory. Does that mean Marrero has a future with this team as middle infield sub?
  13. He averages about 178 innings per year. It's possible that he could pitch 200 innings this year, but he's not a surefire workhorse like Shields. If he pitched like 2014 for the next few years, no one would complain about the contract.
  14. I'm sure we know as much as Farrell does. I'm hoping for an 0-6 start, Farrell gets canned, Lovullo is promoted and the Sox play like they did at the end of last year. If Farrell sticks around knowing that he's on the hot seat, the Sox may crawl to AS break at .500.
  15. C'mon, it was much better back in the early 90's when you could walk up on game day and buy a seat. Have you ever seen the replay of Nomar's 4 HR game, or Roger's 20K game? Fenway was half full! THOSE WERE TRUE FANS! NOT LIKE THE NAMBY PAMBY PINK HATTED SWEET CAROLINE SINGING WALLY WAVING PHONEYS OF TODAY!!!
  16. That's what the PawSox are for.
  17. Pretty much. He was the worst positional player in the game last year. It's about performance, not body type.
  18. I'm not sure starting Pablo would do the team any good either... The rotation right now is Price (ace), Buccholz (injured by AS break), Porcello (pitching like garbage atm), Kelly (has never pitched well for a full season) and Wright (never been a full time starter and is just a stand in for ERod who is hurt and who know when he'd pitch again). I'd say Shields is quite the upgrade at SP since he can consistently pitch 200 innings, which Porcello/Kelly/Buccholz/Wright/Rodriguez are unlikely to do.
  19. The Padres current 3b at one time was the #15 prospect in baseball. Why block him with Pablo? The "rumors" also state the Sox would send a prospect too. Who would you give up?
  20. That's fine and the correct thing to do. However, he says a lot of things that are not based in reality. He is probably the least informed of all the beat writers.
  21. I ignore everything Cafardo says.
  22. But what should I do with my pitchfork?!?!?!?
  23. But he doesn't want to. If he did, they'd keep him around.
  24. Also, it's not just the BoSox calling the Padres, the Padres are talking to a bunch of other teams too.
  25. I'd rather have Tyson Ross in our rotation than Kelly or Porcello. He's a step up from those guys and is about the same as Buccholz (except that he could pitch 200 innings). He's also arbitration eligible through next year.
