Imo, they should spin a lot of these unknowns into established MLers.
If the Reds are really putting everyone on the block, I'd go for Votto and Chapman without thinking twice.
We can say the farm system is remarkable now, but it's based on projections. Let's see how the guys develop over the next few years and judge Ben by production, not projections.
@jcmccaffrey: Christian Vazquez's winter ball team folded, switched teams but he won't get as many ABs. DD unsure if he'll be ready for start of season...
I can see that POV. I'd rather trade and move on. To me, moving on from Buchholz could provide more stability to this rotation. Buchholz has all the talent in the world, but his health is too much of a question mark for me.
The quote was "mediocre at worst." Recent history shows us that he can be worse than mediocre.
Honestly, he's a wild card. You just don't know what he'll give you. He's an injury risk each year who could put up CY numbers or be absolute garbage.
Dumbrowski usually makes moves at the beginning of the offseason. Looks like he'll be busy for the next 30 days. A different modus operandi than we have seen around here recently.
Isn't it a foregone conclusion that he will not finish the season? His track record of durability and performance leaves him as a mediocre option at best.
