Boston’s chief baseball decisionmaker said that he has fielded five new trade proposals today alone, with other organizations seemingly looking to make off with some of the team’s prime prospect assets. But while ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark cited rivals as suggesting that the Sox were aiming to do “something big,” via Twitter, Dombrowski said that the team doesn’t feel pressure to pull off another move. One area that the Red Sox have some obvious room for improvement is the bullpen, particularly with Koji Uehara looking like a major question mark down the stretch and Craig Kimbrel still working his way back. But with Kimbrel seemingly progressing well, Dombrowski suggested that the organization doesn’t feel compelled to add relief help, as Abraham further tweets. Meanwhile, though Red Sox righty Clay Buchholz isn’t filling much of a present role, Dombrowski says that he’s still an important part of the team’s rotation depth, as Jen McCaffrey of MassLive.com reports. With Dombrowski also saying he is impressed with the way Buchholz is throwing the ball, it doesn’t seem as if there’s any momentum towards a deal involving the veteran.

Only for a one time competitive team that doesn't compete next year or the next few? I'd say no since we already have 3 recent WS rings. 2013 was great! 2012, 2014 and 2015 were trainwrecks that I don't want to repeat.

He was under contract and walked off the job in a gorilla suit. It was a horrible lapse in judgement. You can't separate the two. It happened at the same time.

He never really "sucked" at his job. Also, a certain poster that is forever bashing Theo was pretty happy with him after they signed CC. To me, Ben and Theo were cut from the same cloth and the Org didn't change all that much from one guy to the next. I think Dombrowski is bringing a new perspective and time will tell if he is as successful as his predecessors. Chances are, they won't win a WS under Dombrowski though.

I think people didn't like Gomes' glove and his platoon was a little rough. It was believed that Nava had a better chance of hitting RHP and LHP. I don't think the difference between either was all that great.

You asked which decisions were questionable. I just made a list of what people questioned on the internet at the time. To me, the best lineup was Xander at 3b (WMB couldn't hit or field), Drew at SS (solid defense) and Ross at C (solid defense). I know we all goofed on here about the Gomes/Nava situation and said that Gomes should start every game because they were like 8-0 when he started in the postseason. We weren't being entirely serious about it so I didn't put it in the list.

Not guaranteed if they are fighting for a spot down the stretch. I could see them throwing Price out there in game 161 or 162 to help ensure a WC birth.

I stated I didn't want Salty to start. You said "sure you didn't." I found proof that I didn't want him starting and you dismissed it. Professionalism isn't walking out on a job when things don't go your way 100% of the time. He walked away while under contract. It's not a good look.
