They flip flopped every year since 2011. It just seems like they don't have a clear path. Maybe having DUMBrowski on board can help that. Aside from 2013, there has been a lot of horrible baseball played since September 2011.
If the Sox only get one SP this offseason, my rotation would be:
Price
Rodriguez
Porcello
Miley
Owens
Kelly would be in the pen. Buchholz gets traded.
I'd rather get two SPs and have Porcello and Miley be the 4-5.
Depth doesn't win a WS, the front end of the rotation does. Right now, Rodriguez is the best pitcher on the staff. Unless they sign Price, Cueto and Zimmerman, there's no reason to have Rodriguez start in AAA.
Need to dump Panda and/or Hanley on someone too. I'd prefer 2 SP and a BP, but 1 and 1 would be ok, I guess. As long as they actually get a #1 this time around.
@PeteAbe: Former #RedSox OF-1B Daniel Nava designated by the Rays. @dnavs33 has come back from that before. Wouldn't bet against it again.
Stash him in Pawtucket?
Also, Cubbies fans are not rabid. They just want to go drink some beer, sit in the sun and throw homeruns back on the field.
It's a fandom comprised of 100% pink hats.
I too wish we could just ignore a player's overall performance and only chose their best months. JBJ is the next Mike Trout since he will only hit like August 2015 from now on!!!
But LA is hardly a sports town and they leave the game by the 7th inning!!!!!!!!!!
What happens when Sully yells "hey Greinke, you fahkin suck ya doooshbahg?" Career over!!!!
Boston sports fans are true sports fans, not like those bandwagon jumping SoCal dipshits. We wouldn't ever become frontrunners like that. The Dodgrs have nothing that compares like the tradition of singing Sweet Caroline, eating Fenway Franks and chilling with Wally... True fans.
