  1. Game threads are the perfect place for someone to say "if Hanley had swung..." You swooping in to say "yeah, well he didn't" doesn't really add anything to the conversation and actively dismisses the other poster for no other reason but for the fact that you are a Yankees fan. My advice is that the Yankees fans who stick around here tend to be a little less antagonistic and more reasonable in their opinions on the Sox. What's the point in logging into a thread to post "hope you lose" at every opportunity? It doesn't add to the conversation and just kinda makes you look like a dope.
  2. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/170992420/mookie-betts-hitting-like-dustin-pedroia Pedroia is a pull hitter. He doesn't use all fields as much as he should.
  3. We definitely needed that extra pitcher once ERod went down. It was clear within the first week or so that he wouldn't be ready for the season opener. Considering all of the other question marks in the rotation, that was the time to make a deal. They definitely lucked into Wright's performance. If they had not picked up Buchholz's option, they could have grabbed a more reliable starter for similar or less money (i.e. JA Happ, Doug Fister, Colby Lewis) and the rotation would be looking much better.
  4. One year? That seems to be a pretty liberal time frame for seeing a substantial defensive improvement out of him.
  5. The real saying is "if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its ass" or as Jimmy Williams politely stated "if a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its booty." Not sure how your comment is all that relevant to a game thread though...
  6. There is no way, there will be 7 Sox on the team. At most, there would be 3 or 4. When the Royals stuffed the ballot box last year, they only got 6 players on the team.
  7. Adam Jones, Jose Bautista, Nelson Cruz will all get more votes than JBJ. Heck, Mark bleeping Trumbo may get more votes than JBJ.
  8. Even if he hits to his current career numbers 240/310/370, he's worth keeping in the lineup. The only concern would be if he dips to lower than 220/280/350. The rest of the lineup can carry his meager bat due to his outstanding glove. I like Swihart, but it looked like he didn't have the confidence he needed behind the plate. I hope he figures it out, but it's Vazquez's position to lose now.
  9. Hi, you must be new to the New England area!
  10. Real problem: grass growing everywhere except where I'm putting down seed
  11. Yes. He and Mussina need to be in.
  12. He has pitched much better when it's been warmer. I'm hoping this continues throughout the summer.
  13. Castillo would come up first. He's been playing better in May.
  14. He played in about 25% of the games last year! Crazy.
  15. I was told he was Punch and Judy hitter and that last August was pretend?
  16. Would he have to give back the cowboy hat the Astros gave him?
  17. So are we still concerned about Wright or no?
  18. If Pedroia becomes the new Johnny Pesky, I'll travel all across the country and pick a new team based on my one experience at their ballpark and hope that it feels like Ye Olde Fenway.
  19. Those kind of people are the worst.
  20. It's trading Pedroia, isn't it?
  21. Once DUMBrowski comes to his senses and follows my Three Point Plan, I'll change the sig to reflect the ongoing Fangraphs issues.
