    At this point, he firmly has the injury prone tag, more so than a guy like Trevor Story. I just think it's more important for them to take it slowly with him for the long term health of the franchise.

    I don't think the season is cancelled, but it gets immeasurably harder. Unlike you, I don't believe in Hicks at all. I wouldn't let that guy pitch outside of low leverage situations. Aside from Whitlock, I'm not sure who I'd want to pitch in the 9th. That's Cora's problem though.

    There isn't an internal candidate that is ready for THIS season. Maybe one that could be developed for future seasons.

    Who? You are going to spend MORE assets to get that closer at the deadline than to just acquire them in the offseason. This is an unreasonable strategy. Rearranging deck chairs to spend more assets to potentially put a worse product on the field. Just run it out with Chapman. Sign a FA closer. Trade for another late inning reliever that you can develop into the future closer.

    What about Vaughn Grissom screams MLBer to you? His defense? His power profile? His athletic ability?

    If it's confusing, it's because the front office isn't just scouting the box scores and actually sees the player day in day out. If they liked Grissom at all, we would have seen him in BOS by now (and not just the 465 OPS he provided last year). They've tried him out at 3b, 1b to see if there's any value there. It's his third season at AAA. There is no meat left on that bone.

    Yes, this is what they've said over and over on the SoxProspects podcast and they have access to metrics and pitching/hitting data that we don't. If they could trade Grissom, they would. Most likely, he's moved before the Rule 5 date.

    "We're going to be buyers and win more games without Devers." I'm not sure where in that calculation allows for a trade of Chapman. You'd have to then trade for someone else's closer and it seems like a lot of work to just make your pen worse and swap prospects.

    I like Mayer. I'm more concerned about the lingering issues with his wrist since he's missed significant time each season he's played.

    Grissom can't hit quality pitching. Right now, he's feasting on lesser AAA arms and not hitting better AAA arms.

    To me, IF they miss the playoffs this season, they better make the playoffs in '26 or Breslow should be canned. There are 6 teams that get in from the AL. No excuse to miss anymore, except mismanagement.

    I agree and have said as much elsewhere. The Sox could be mediocre down the stretch and still back into the playoffs because of the Yankees (no Judge?), Mariners (bad peripherals, sorry moon) and Rays (lots of away games because of FL rainy season schedule) just not playing all that well.

    I'd trade Buehler and Fitts for Leiter and Rocker. Give me that upside down the stretch. I'm completely OUT on Buehler and Fitts is being pulled after 4 innings.
