  1. No, they are picking up Buchholz's option again this offseason. If the Sox finish the season strong, Farrell stays too.
  2. I'm more concerned about the Sox franchise long term than what happens this year. If they don't make the playoffs, it's not a big deal to me. I'd rather not mortgage the future for one final Ortiz year when we still have 3 rings in a back pockets from recent years.
  3. I think he just sucks at PR.
  4. But that doesn't mean you don't make other moves to be better the other 4 out of 5 games...
  5. Price is a better bet over the next few years than Buchholz. Buchholz is the easiest guy to replace since he's not expected to be a TOTR guy. Bringing him back was dumb. Signing Price was worth the risk. The results have been not great though. I'm not sold that Cueto or Shark would perform any better in Fenway though. They should have resigned Lester and we would not be having this convo in the first place.
  6. They goofed by bringing him back. Sox played better under Lovullo. Farrell doesn't seem to make the smartest decisions on or off the field. Lots of us were ready to dump Farrell, so this isn't entirely a reaction to the June swoon either.
  7. I think Leon and Hanigan are interchangeable. Either move Hanigan or send Leon back to Pawtucket. Vazquez should be up in Boston permanently.
  8. Yeah, maybe Farrell can stay...
  9. If the Sox really want to win now, they need to follow my Three Point Plan.
  10. 2 years from now, Price will still be a top level talent while Buchholz is out of baseball.
  11. Thanks John!
  12. A chloroform rag addressed to Tom Werner? Oh please, oh please, oh please...
  13. The Angels are up next! Everyone pick up their starters in fantasy!
  14. Golly gee then. I'm so glad about the Red Sox World Series rings from the 1910's! Unless you are a highlander, baseball history from before the age of 8 shouldn't matter to you. Thankfully, when I was growing up in the 80's, the Yankees sucked a big fat one too!
  15. Still more rings over the past 15 years.
  16. As a Red Sox fan, I'm going to really enjoy watching the Yankees compete for last place for the next 3 - 4 years.
  17. I could see Pomeranz, Straily and possibly Gray being made available. The only issue with Gray is that the A's would be selling low on him.
  18. Re: Price I know! WHY HASN'T PEDROIA DONE ANYTHING ABOUT THIS YET??? Needs more mound visits probably.
  19. Those guys aren't typically available at the trade deadline.
  20. Ah yes, the wonders of baseball! The strike zone is like a box of chocolates, you know...
  21. I like him, but we have to be honest with what is a good value to give up. Hill is not durable in the least. If you're bringing a guy in to pitch down the stretch, you need to be sure that he'll take the mound every 5 days at the very least.
  22. A guy on a one year deal who hits the DL annually? Yeah, I'd offer Owens at most.
  23. Red Sox vs. Moore: Ortiz 10-24 (3 HR), Pedroia 5-21, Bogaerts 4-7, Shaw 5-7, Bradley 1-6, Betts 4-6, Ramirez 1-4. Rays vs. Price: Longoria 2-12, Forsythe 2-10, Miller 1-10, Morrison 2-9, Casali 5-8, Arcia 0-6, Jennings 1-6, Beckham 1-5, Franklin 1-4, Conger 1-3. David Price is 1-2 with a 6.75 ERA in four career starts against the Rays. He faced them at Fenway Park on April 21 and allowed eight runs in 3.2 innings.
