    Sox were down 3-2 when Kimbrel came in. The Sox never scored another run. He didn't lose the game.

    Closers should be able to pitch in non-save situations. However, they generally can't. Kimbrel didn't lose this game. The offense scuffled its feet for two long while Price kept them in it.

    If they didn't want Buchholz on the opening day roster, they wouldn't have re-signed him. The fan theory of picking up the option just to trade him was dumb from day 1. Why keep rehashing it?

    @jtomase If this result holds, Red Sox will have lost as many as David Price's starts (8) in 18 games as Tigers and Jays did in 32 last year.

    And I said they needed to grab another pitcher when he went down. It never happened. They didn't get a #2 and relied on ERod coming back from injury and outperforming his rookie season. Bad bets made all around.

    Teams with large payrolls can afford an upside play or two. However, the Sox hoped for upside plays for 4/5's of the rotation. Not a smart call imo.
