  1. @redsoxstats Bogaerts another IF fly ball... has the 2nd worst infield fly ball rate in MLB, up 60% from last year.
  2. Fenway is great. Olympic Stadium was weird. Oakland Coliseum is fun enough with decent food and pre 9/11 you could bring in coolers full of stuff. AT&T Park is highly overrated. The glove in LF is the most obnoxious thing ever. Dodger Stadium is the best stadium I've been to. Great sightlines. Can still watch the game while grabbing food and beer. Love that place. The traffic to/from is horrible though.
  3. I don't think ANY guys should be called soft. People were inferring it with Papi earlier in the year because "why can't he just play 5 more years because it's not really that taxing to be a dh when you only swing the bat a few times a day and literally do nothing else with your life blah blah blah blah." Is that ok? Also, before some people throw stones, I know that a certain poster was saying that Hanley was mentally fragile and would be unable to field his position this year...
  4. How many pitchers come in at 18 and pitch with a lot of success? Just because he was drafted in the 1st round and could be the best overall player, doesn't mean he's ready to perform at a big league level. Even "can't miss" guys like Urias come up and struggle a little. It's silly to expect that Groome would do anything but get bombed in the bigs right now.
  5. John Henry would be stupid to rip Pablo while he's still under contract. Ostensibly, he's just out injured. Why bag on the guy further? The best you can do is hope he turns his career around and that they can trade him.
  6. It wasn't an experiment.
  7. I've read that the traffic is horrible there and that the stadium is just in a horrible spot for people to get to. They apparently have decent tv ratings. It's hard to get this silver hairs down there to show up.
  8. Holley and Dale are good as a combo. I'm not a big fan of what Jerry Thornton brings to the table. I generally only tune in to sports radio if something major is going down.
  9. It was a joke that referred to other people on Talksox that had a tendency to "make stuff up." I don't pay attention to other message boards. One is enough for me.
  10. Another game at that dump? Can we move them out of the division?
  11. I went to read that post but it was obscured by all this white sticky stuff. Probably Papa John's Garlic Sauce. Gross...
  12. I don't know why you'd do that to yourself.
  13. I agree, and they are definitely picking up that option. If Clay will be the boil on the Red Sox ass for one more year, maybe he can at least provide relative value in the bullpen.
  14. If Martinez only played IF, it would have been unremarkable. The fact that Martinez was stuck in the OF playing garbage defense, basically forced the hand on either trading for an OF or bringing Beni up.
  15. Get your stinkin' facts outta here!
  16. Wright is supposed to come back and pitch this weekend. What do you think he'll look like? I don't really believe he's a sub 3 ERA guy, but if he's a sub 4 ERA guy who can pitch a ton of innings he'd still have tremendous value.
  17. No no no... Clay is on a mission to prove me right and to get a really great sig for Bell.
  18. Will be an even better move this time around!
  19. The issue is that management didn't believe Benintendi would be an "experiment." They thought he'd have a great chance to stay in the lineup. When they feel Moncada is ready, they'll bring him up. I'm going to trust their judgement on this one.
  20. Must be talking about Kelly Leak. He's a pretty good prospect.
  21. @marc_normandin David Price has a 3.17 ERA, over 6-2/3 IP per GS in his last 20 starts. Still not exactly what the Sox hoped for in year one, but better.
  22. Anyone can post the lineup. There used to be a rule that only VA could post the lineup, but she doesn't post it anymore so anyone is allowed to do it.
  23. The vast majority of closers can be classified as "white knuckle." Koji in 2013 is an abberation. Even Papelbon's early career was an outlier. Even with Kimbrel's missteps, he's still one of the best in the game right now.
