  1. His OPS for that horrible year was still better than 3 years that Heyward has had.
  2. He was 27 when he signed that contract. Let's not pretend that he was being put out to pasture.
  3. JD Drew with a worse bat, but better glove? I'd buy that. Heyward's career OBP is about 35 points less than Drew's and that includes the nightmare 2011 season for JD.
  4. He's probably in the top 25 OFers in the league. I doubt he'd crack a top 20 though.
  5. How many are you including in your "best" list?
  6. Beltran was coming off 4 straight seasons of an OPS over .800. Heyward hasn't been over .800 since 2012. The Cubs paid for his defense AND expected his bat to revert to 2012 levels. His contract just isn't worth it.
  7. Heyward doesn't have the pedigree that Beltran did. C'mon...
  8. This is a lie. I'm only at 26!
  9. Yup. What a disaster!
  10. Jason Heyward is pretty bad IMO. Theo's done a great job though. He should still be the GM here.
  11. Edwin Jackson
  12. http://www.fangraphs.com/library/pitchfx-resources/ Who are you to doubt the Fangraphs Tribune!
  13. Price has a great changeup. It's his fastball that has diminished returns this year and due to location not velocity. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=3184&position=P#pitchvalues
  14. So are wins a meaningless stat or not?
  15. And Wright's numbers are fading fast. He's not a guy you can count on long term. The playoff rotation would be Price (struggled this season has struggled in previous postseasons), Wright (can't deal with moisture and has zero secondary pitches if he loses the feel on his knuckler), Porcello (yay?) and ERod (huge question mark as to what he can bring to the table). That's not a team built to win now. That's a team built to win in the regular season, but not the postseason.

  17. Right, it goes back to not re-signing Lester last year. They are playing catch up now and it's not working.
  18. If he returns to career norms next year, his contract will be fine. All the bluster about needing to win a ring for Ortiz is a little overstated. This team isn't built to win right now with this rotation.
  19. He's pitching like the guy he was in 2014. I'm happy with it.
  20. If Farrell is the coach next year, you can guarantee that Moncada will be hitting 9th in a platoon through the AS break.
  21. He strikes out a lot, but he also walks a lot. He's a very patient hitter that knows the strike zone better than the AA umpires.
  22. Did you read those word for word? I generally just skimmed them hoping he'd get to the point.
  23. Our viable 5th starter was Wright. The problem is that we went into the season with an injured guy in the 2 spot and Buchholz in the 4. No matter what Wright does down the stretch, the team would be below .500 if he didn't have his surprising season.
  24. But he hasn't been as good as Pedro was in 1999 or 2000! RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE...
