  1. Pomeranz had enough of an injury history to scare away potential bidders anyway.
  2. Does it still have blackouts though?
  3. When's this s*** going down this year?
  4. It was worth it though? No one else could have pinch run in that situation! Playing station to station with Big Papi would have been too reckless!!!
  5. Just go sign Doug Fister now.
  6. I don't typically care about the other team. I don't need stats to tell me about performance for a guy on the Sox. Stats typically back up things my eyes already see. For example, it was obvious that Pedey's defense sucked in 2015 and just as obvious that he turned it around in 2016. The only understanding that I really care about is that the team with more runs will win the game. That's the only truth, everything else is just conversation.
  7. I'm not a big stat head guy, but I believe that the majority of people on here have played baseball or another sport and know enough about competition. My job is dealing with numbers and financial projections. I use baseball as an escape and don't find stats to be all that enjoyable. I'd rather just turn the game on, grab a beer and bitch about the umps.
  8. "General bias." I didn't say "everyone's bias."
  9. I'm going to disagree. The general bias on that part of stat heads is that if it can't currently be shown on fangraphs, then it can't be real.
  10. If SFF was still here, he could just ask LL directly.
  11. That's exactly why you don't DFA Brentz right now.
  12. Can't believe he came back. Weird situation and no one has dug very deap into the story.
  13. It means they are a punch and judy hitter. - David Ortiz
  14. If he doesn't make the MLB roster out of ST, he retires. He isn't going to play at Pawtucket.
  15. 34 aka super duper old.
  16. Sox signed Carlos Quentin
  17. Unless you can retrofit every player with the Barry Bonds cheat elbow armor! Then it would get down to about once every 12 times!
  18. King of Small Sample Sizes!
  19. That plaque is ********! He went 1 for 9 in the ALDS last year! Should never make definitive plaques like that! Should be made out of Woody Willy metal filings that can be changed at the drop of a hat! Sad!
  20. I liked Dempster, but I don't think his stuff would have translated very well to the AL East. His 2008 was an abberation. Burnett pitched decently in 2009, but fell off a cliff until landing in the NL again. Sabbathia's contract was fine. The Yankees should have just let him opt out and go elsewhere after 2011.
  21. I said "Lackey" but meant "Lester."
  22. DiceK was a 2.6 WAR player in 2008. He wasn't garbage. He was a good #3.
  23. Maybe nearly impossible for you. Others can just sit back, say someone choked and not worry about whether it has "definitively" tagged someone or not.
  24. The top of the rotation was Beckett, Lackey and Dice-K. In 2009, those guys were good enough that you shouldn't have needed a #2. Penny and Smoltz were 5/6's at best. I don't think anyone really expected Penny or Smoltz to be anything more than roster filler. This was a team that almost made the WS in 2008. It's not like they were a bunch of pieces away. edit: I meant Lester, not Lackey. Sorry.
