    Honestly, the lack of run production isn't only due to one thing. You also have to credit Xander turning into a singles hitter, Pedroia taking a step back, 3b being a trainwreck and JBJ hitting like a pumpkin too. Even if they had signed Holliday instead of Moreland, I'm not sure that the offense or W/L record would be any better.

    He sat out 2 games last June. 4 other times he came in as a replacement. That's not a benching.

    This is as far as I'll go. MAYBE the Sox managers have been too focused on some of the on air talent for NESN. MAYBE that would have distracted them here and there as they stood on the dugout steps. I don't think they'd get completely lost in daydreaming that they forgot to get a bullpen arm warming up.

    He was never benched last year. He was given a week off when he was having calf injuries though.

    How do you know when someone believes they know more about baseball than anyone else? They'll tell you how many years they've been watching for. Francona was the greatest Sox manager in history.

    I agree. I understand why they made the Pom trade, but I don't think it was the correct move especially after him turning out to be damaged goods. Maybe they sold high on a guy who will never make the majors, but they could have spun Espinoza into someone better than Pom imo.

    They wanted a 1 year contract, not a 2 or 3 year contract. EE was for 3 years and he has sucked this year. Napoli signed a larger 1 year contract than Moreland and has been worse defensively and offensively. Beltran signed a HUGE 1 year contract, doesn't play 1b and has sucked. Holliday signed a $13M 1 year contract, is a s***** defender and has played very well. His slugging hasn't been this high since 2011. I'm not sure many people expect it to continue. Frankly, the sox got a plus bat for $5.5M for one year. His defense has been poor, but none of the guys you mentioned would have been an upgrade defensively. The only guy who is better offensively is Holliday, but I don't think many people would want to sign him for $13M just for shits and giggles.

    There were definitely people on here who posted about FranCOMA and his 7 run rule. They were a vocal minority and tended to skew towards the gray haired type that think since they've watched baseball for 60 years that they are better than any manager, coach or scout in the organization.

    No one is embarrassing anyone. There was no disrespect levied towards bosoxmal. Just because someone is older doesn't mean they get treated differently. We respect EVERYONE on here even Yankees fans. There is a reason for the way the mods have set this site up. If it bothers anyone, they can go hang out on the other board where Pumpsie and Fred are.

    I think he sees Travis and Devers in the pipeline and didn't want to get more than a one year contract 1b guy. Where else could they have improved?
