  1. Now that there are 3 WC teams, it's easier for some mediocre teams to sneak in with a few hot stretches even though the overall profile looks weird.
  2. Why compare it to 2018? Attendance is up from last season's 32,839. The is on track to be the highest attended season since 2019 when they averaged 35,994. This year's attendance is close to 2003's, but is dwarfed by every year from 04-19. Can't really put much stock into road attendance numbers as other teams fluctuate significantly year to year and the Sox visit different NL parks each season.
  3. Yes, they should trade Tolle for him. - Jim Bowden 🤪
  4. Bernardino has only pitched 3 innings since being added to the WOO roster 2 weeks ago.
  5. Well, you shouldn't have quoted Ted Kaczynski in it for starters.
  6. Sandy Alcantara isn't very good anymore. He walks too many guys and can't strike anybody out anymore. He gives up a lot of loud contact and doesn't miss bats. With how well the Sox play at home, they should beat the Marlins up pretty good today. He's basically the Marlins' version of Buehler at this point. He could throw a gem, but most likely it's a little ugly.
  7. Young and inexperienced Duran entering FA after his 4th ARB year.
  8. When the Sox have an "inexperienced" starting OFer who will be 29 next month, but can't track flyballs.
  9. This is not true. I didn't think they could/should acquire Ryan at the deadline. You're confusing me with someone else. I believe they should build the team in the offseason. The deadline is always prohibitively expensive. If the Twins were really doing a fire sale and Breslow could have traded for him without giving up Tolle, then fine. Twins weren't going to do that though. They also never provided the Sox with a serious offer per reports.
  10. Jim Bowden said at the deadline that the Sox should consider trading Tolle for Lowe. “Last year [Nathaniel Lowe] slashed .265/.361/.401 with 16 homers and 69 RBIs while playing plus defense at first base. This year with the Nationals, he’s hitting just .227 but has 12 doubles, 10 home runs and 45 RBIs in 75 games. He’d be an upgrade for the Sox, who would control him through 2026. Lowe would be a solid place holder until prospect James Tibbs III, acquired in the Devers trade, is ready for the majors. “A second-round pick in 2024, Tolle has an eye-popping 70 strikeouts in 43 2/3 innings this season in High A. This is the type of deal the Nationals need to make at the trade deadline: adding more power arms to their stable.” Don't ever listen to that idiot please. Yes, we are all smarter than a former GM.
  11. Breslow said in the press conference that taking on the whole contract wasn't necessary for the deal.
  12. Yeah, it's just another thing for us to ruminate on here. Ultimately, it doesn't really have much bearing on whether a team will continue to perform well over the remainder of the season or not.
  13. All I said was "I like Meidroth, but he's been bad the past few months" and showed that he's been bad the past few months. It's not cherry picking. We've complained about Toro on here endlessly and he's as bad as Toro in the same timeframe that Toro has nosedived. I was a big fan of Meidroth, but am aware of his faults as a player (low EV, low barrel rates, bad arm strength). It's ok to like players and still be realistic about who they are. I would have still liked him in the org, but it's not the end of the world that he was traded. I spent all last offseason saying to trade Mayer, so...
  14. An inexperienced CBO wouldn't have traded for Jordan Hicks.
  15. Send a strongly worded letter to the Commissioner/Tinkerer.
  16. Any runs allowed by position players should be taken out of the equation at the very least.
  17. He's only getting DFA'd if he's struggling to come back from the injury. He still has 3 MiLB options left so it's more likely they stash him in AAA for all of '26 if he's really struggling before ultimately DFA'ing.
  18. With the new rules, they can only have 14 pitchers max. One extra call up on both sides of the ball doesn't really move the needle for me. They probably call up Hamilton as a speed option. Slaten has thrown bullpens and "should" be ready. I wouldn't count on it.
  19. If it's an out on a pitch down the middle, who cares? If it's an out on a pitch the batter should be laying off, that's a different story IMO.
  20. I don't think the cost of acquiring a controllable starter at the deadline is reasonable. They needed to acquire a better short term guy. Ryan would be cheaper in the offseason, so pass for now. However, they didn't address the right side of the IF and it wouldn't have been very expensive to do so as we saw with other trades made around the league. It certainly wouldn't have set the farm back years.
  21. To me, it's just a wasted year if you don't try to load up when you expect to make the playoffs.
  22. Shout him out!
  23. I like Meidroth, but he's been pretty bad the past two months. Since 6/6: 547 OPS - 3rd worst in MLB 201 AVG - 9th worst in MLB 269 OBP - 9th worst in MLB 54 wRC+ - 4th worst in MLB 7 RBI - worst in MLB
