I think DD may do that too (or at least sign some starter). Too many questions concerning the health of Price and ERod. No clue on what Wright can provide. Porcello may just be a 4th starter. What if Pom's 2017 was a fluke? Etc.

I do like the idea of an Abreu trade. It would fix one of the moves that Ben whiffed on (i.e. never figuring out 1b).

I move on from him and just stick with Lin/Hernandez/Marrero. They aren't much of a drop from Holt's production and may have higher ceilings.

Based on their career trajectories. Both were late bloomers. I think JD will still be a great offensive force for 4-5 years. It just depends on if you want to eat the last few years of his deal as he declines. Also, isn't every trade or FA signing based on hope? Hope that the player wont break down. Hope that they'll fit in the Boston market.

Duda doesn't have Moreland's glove though. I think I'd rather have Moreland than Duda short term.

It's closer when you only count seasons 2014 on (which are probably more important). However, Giancarlo IS definitely a much better bet than JD. My only worry is that you would have to give up something of value to get him. If it's a few be level prospects, it's a good option.

@alexscherff23 Rest In Peace Daniel Flores...most talented catcher I have ever seen and such a joy to be around. Lots of love from his Sox teammates that he played with in instructs. Everyone is heartbroken and he was a great human being. Very sad.

A better comp for JD is Jose Bautista.

Here's his slugging since 2014: 553/535/535/690. Seems pretty consistent until last year when his hard contact % increased to 49%. RBI is a garbage stat that is only reflective on how good of an offense you have in front of you.

He's 20. He has many years to go before he grows out of the position. We were all told that Xander would grow out of SS too, but that hasn't happened.

Mous is below average. Negative WAR defense. It'll only get worse as he ages with that big body.

And really, his issue is just throwing. That's probably something they can really focus on this offseason and work out.
