  1. Need to dig deeper. If Grady Little pulls Pedro earlier and the Sox win in '03, Nomar is never traded and Todd Walker would have been re-signed. Rentawreck would never have signed in 2005 and Cora wouldn't have had to be brought in to shore up the IF defense.
  2. While living in a basement tho.
  3. It's not JUST this site: http://boston.locals.baseballprospectus.com/2017/11/03/redundancy-and-tony-la-russa/ Everyone needs some story to go with I guess?
  4. I'd rather have a FO that wasn't hacked.
  5. If it wasn't for Papi's WINK WINK eye drops, the Sox wouldn't have won in 04, 07 or 13!
  6. I too remember the early 80's ChiSox steroid scandal and last year's D'Backs steroid scandal.
  7. Same thing with FranCOMA. Sad!
  8. Ben: 3 last place finishes DD: 0 last place finishes
  9. Never Hosmer.
  10. Why are we focused on the "next GM" when the current one took a back to back last place team and made them a back to back first place team?
  11. Which is why the exercise of parsing out who gets credit for which player is just silly. It's DD's team now, he gets the credit and blame.
  12. He is very quick with offseason moves. In the past, he's always been quick to strike with FA signings and trades. This year, he already re-signed a few MiLB guys and put Brentz on the 40 man roster.
  13. What the f*** is this s***?
  14. Not great. Velazquez was the best pitcher down there last season. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/leader.cgi?type=pitch&id=1438f8aa Last year's OPS leader was former Red Sox player Corey Brown. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=brown-002cor Remember him?
  15. I don't remember that info ever coming out.
  16. C's looked great last night against a really s***** Kings team. Tatum and Brown should be fun to watch for a while.
  17. Well, there were a lot of people on here who refused to call it a Ben move as ANY TRADE THAT BIG WOULD HAVE TO COME FROM OWNERSHIP or some nonsense. Ben had some great moves and some really bad moves. Hard to really parse out moves that were Ben's vs moves that were FO's.
  18. Yu Darvish is LOL random.
  19. Apparently!
  20. wrong forum
  21. Good win and Febles have previously worked within the Sox org too. No red flags yet.
  22. 1988 team had not a lot of talent? Evans, Rice, Clemens, Boggs, Burks, Greenwell...
  23. Years later, Bill Lee said "He was easygoing. We played well under him. He was a very knowledgeable baseball guy. He handled players well. He was one of my all-time favorites."
  24. Johnson was named 1975’s Major League Manager of the Year by The Sporting News. And once again he was given the St. Louis Brownie of the Year Award by those who still kept the faith. Sportswriters covering the World Series noted that Johnson had become more bitter, was livid regarding the Armbrister incident, and was observed as becoming “surly and quick-tempered in his relations with the World Series press.” Former Red Sox manager Dick Williams empathized with Johnson, noting the pressure, and called him an “intense, inward” but “outstanding” person who simply hadn’t adjusted as well to dealing with the press as Williams himself had.7 Red Sox pitcher Bill Lee had his criticisms, expressed in the immediate aftermath of the World Series: “Johnson has been falling out of trees all summer and landing on his feet.”8
  25. Aren't all of my posts more credible than his?
