  1. Honestly, not a lot of $ to me. Sox were willing to take on Hicks for MORE last season. I can't be worried about dumping Duran now for middling CBT relief.
  2. The Jays signing Bo is just a lateral move though? How does that push the envelope for any team? Tucker at least upgrades Lukes in LF. To really make a splash, the Jays need both Tucker and Bo.
  3. That seems like that would be the plan, right? Vientos is just a bench piece. Tong is a cheap add to the rotation. sox use savings to add to 1b/3b. Again, we're talking about a trade that came from NY talk radio. Not exactly something that is coming from reality to begin with so it's nothing I'm taking seriously. I honestly don't know enough about Tong to say if he's worth it in a trade for Duran. He's not the #2 that Breslow said he wants, just another question mark to add.
  4. If they traded for Vientos, this would cause them to NOT sign a big name FA?
  5. If MIL couldn't turn him into a starter, BOS isn't going to turn him into a starter at age 28. I just don't see this deal as likely. All reports were that they were using Duran for a #2 starter or corner IF piece, not bullpen/prospect arms. This deal hurts the Sox in the short term TBH. They are better off holding onto Duran and hoping that a contender has an OFer get injured during the season than making this move.
  6. Hard disagree there. The whole ideal that is currently pingponging in JH's head right now is that he was the 15M/1M guys and that's how he's choosing his CBO/GM's.
  7. A lot of hitters had late career resurgences at the end of the 80's due to various reasons (Darrell Evans, Jack Clark, Dave Parker, Carlton Fisk).
  8. If Campbell is headlining a trade, don't expect much back.
  9. He wouldn't get put on waivers as he has options. That's the biggest value Casas has right now: he can be stashed in AAA for a few years to get back to being something.
  10. If Duran is one of the Sox 2 best hitters going into the '26 season, they are in big trouble.
  11. Nick Mears is a mediocre 29 year old reliever who gets pulled to hell with no options. Why would the Sox want him included? Duran for a reliever and the 10th best prospect in the MIL system? If the Sox need to add a reliever that bad, they can just grab one on the FA market. The deal makes zero sense for BOS and only helps MIL.
  12. If Casas is healthy, I'd rather him fulltime than platooning with Vientos.
  13. Donovan splits '25 LHP 615 OPS RHP 853 OPS Marte splits '25 LHP 891, 9 HR RHP 896, 19 HR (where he'd see the decrease at Fenway)
  14. In '20 and '21, he was basically fulltime.
  15. I started running again and it doesn't feel that way to me!
  16. The supahfan is such a journalist that goes after the FO soooo hard that he just loves having his boy Sam on the show. The guy who really calls out the FO on that pod is Coley Mick and the general community dislikes half of his takes even though he's right and 7' tall.
  17. If Breslow went ahead with this trade, it would mean he's strapping a rocket to Tong.
  18. 6 HR's '19-'21 (ERod 3, Hart, Godley, Eovaldi) 1 XBH '22 - '25 As long as the Sox face ERod a bunch, they should be ok to trade for him.
  19. They were also low on Duran in '25. 🙃
  20. Lowe is LH and can't play a lick of defense. Marte is great, but would lose a significant amount of HR's at Fenway. Long contract and would take a big trade package. Donovan is a platoon bat.
  21. Duran is clearly no Jared Kelenic! 😇
  22. Vientos had a 136 wRC+ in '24, but is a horrible defender at 3b. He barrels and hits the ball hard, but isn't a pull hitter for Fenway. Lots of swing and miss. This deal would clearly be for prospect Jonah Tong.
