  1. I think they are just still tuning up. If you remember, Cora held them back this ST because of all the extra innings last postseason. They'll be back to normal sooner than later.
  2. I think he sees that he has too many guys in their prime to reset now. I think he'll reset eventually, but not for another 4-5 years.
  3. You gonna fix your sig or no?
  4. I'm not sure he'd get higher AAV on the open market. More likely he just stays here and gets extra years. They have a bigger need for him than most other franchises.
  5. It's still only April 1. These two teams are too talented to be held down by poor managerial decisions and small sample sizes. I'm sure the standings will be flipped by Memorial Day.
  6. Interesting that Northern Star still hasn't changed his signature or even contributed to this discussion. Seems like he was just complaining for the sake of complaining.
  7. But they didn't become billionaires by spending money!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. It's almost like I've been saying all along that they can afford anyone that they want to keep. Huh? Go figure.
  9. You touted the cliff for so long and you're already walking it back in 2019? This is the opposite of commitment.
  10. Only fair, right?
  11. But the bullpen.........
  12. Feel free to take out your joeycaps one now.
  13. If I held everyone to the high standard I hold for myself, I'd block every poster on here.
  14. Just f***ing disgusting. https://www.nj.com/yankees/2019/03/this-retired-yankees-hero-was-indicted-on-child-sex-charges.html
  15. He's really only in competition with Tito. There have been a lot of really bad Sox managers. Farrell won a WS, but was a poor manager.
  16. I went there when 30+ years ago when I was a kid. I still remember being in awe of how cool the banyan tree is there. Don't remember anything else about that place though.
  17. Mookie deserved to make $20M in 2017. You know how much he made that year? $1M. What if he had a catastrophic injury? These players need to make the right amount of money. After amassing 20.2 fWAR in 3.5 years, he still only earned $10.5M in 2018. He was unpaid...
  18. I think the drag on arb salaries should be a huge concern. Why should these guys get paid pennies on the dollar just because they've only been in the league a certain amount of time?
  19. Our little guy is so grown up now. Makes me feel old AF.
  20. @MiLB Minor League Baseball announces pace-of-play rule changes for 2019, including a three-batter minimum for pitchers in Double-A and Triple-A
  21. It's not much of a difference to me. 1 game out of 162? The epitome of SSS.
  22. Not yet. Still early. I also believe some MiLB will make a big impact in the pen this year.
  23. Sale? No. It's just one game. Sox were 0-1 after game 1 last year too. Thornburg? No idea what to expect from him.
  24. Like posting on an opposing team's fan forum or something?
  25. https://mlb.nbcsports.com/2019/03/29/mlb-awards-a-championship-belt-to-the-team-which-keeps-salaries-lowest-in-arbitration/ If you think this is anything other than a challenge to pay the players as little as they can legally get away with, get a load of this: "The Belt changes hands shortly after season’s end, in a crowded conference room at a luxury resort, where delegates from every MLB team have been summoned for a symposium on arbitration. For three hours, they will work together at the direction of the league to set recommendations, which teams will use in negotiations with their players. It’s a thankless job. So before the meeting adjourns, they’ll celebrate an unsung hero in this battle over dollars. The ceremony ends with the presentation of a replica championship belt, awarded by the league to the team that did most to “achieve the goals set by the industry.” In other words: The team that did the most to keep salaries down in arbitration." Yes, an actual belt. There have been rumors about this for some time — when I went to that arbitration competition last year I spoke to people who mentioned it — but thanks to Carig’s excellent reportage, Major League Baseball has now admitted that that’s a thing. Whenever money matters come up, people who take ownership’s side said say “hey, it’s a business.” What they fail to understand is that while, yes, it’s all about the money, in some respects beating the players and holding down salaries as much as possible is a game to them too. STOP ROOTING FOR THESE BILLIONAIRES AND THEIR CHECKBOOKS. THEY DIDN'T BECOME BILLIONAIRES BY PINCHING PENNIES, THEY DID IT BY BEING ABJECT *******S.
