I'd be perfectly happy if he was just a replacement level bat. His current year average/obp/slg are all career lows (2015 on, I don't count 2014 era JBJ). The past two seasons, he's underperformed his projections. If DD decided to sign him to a long term deal, I'd be fine with it. I just wish he didn't have those crazy slumps.

There are roster exemptions for players on the 60 day DL. They can sneak him onto the roster because of Pedroia/Marco Hernandez.
