  1. Griffey JR 152 PA, .275/.338/.457/.795, 27 K, 13 BB, 23 R, 6 HR, 16 RBI
  2. It's a strategy that has been around for decades and decades. If one team just tried bunting every time they were up, it would still be a traditional play just used more frequently. The idea that baseball today is any less traditional than it was in 1960whatever is just flat nonsense.
  3. Automatic bases clearing double?
  4. Happy 45th Anniversary of 10 Cent Beer Night!
  5. Launch, shifts and robot umps are fine. I just don't like the current instant replay model. Having a coach hold up the action while reviewing whether or not he wants to challenge is dumb as hell. They need to shorten that process. Shifting has happened since before most of us were born. It IS traditional. It's the game you grew up with.
  6. Although he missed most of April due to injury, Chad De La Guerra hasn't missed a beat since returning to the Pawtucket lineup. The infielder is batting a solid .298/.322/.456 in his first full season at Triple-A and launched his first home run of the season Monday night. The Grand Canyon University product has steadily climbed the ranks of the Red Sox farm system and now finds himself in the midst of a productive season just one stop away from the major leagues. Bryan Gonzalez also had a tater. He currently has an OPS of 3.578. http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=682793#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL TIME FOR A PROMOTION!
  7. The Germans didn't bomb Pearl Harbor, it was an inside job.
  8. IDK, I kinda like that rule. It puts a bigger emphasis on OF defense.
  9. I don't even know what you are trying to say, but it's less "not politically correct" and more just "stupid."
  10. Well, not every All Star is picked in the first 10 picks.
  11. Who are you clearing out instead? Price, Sale, Evo and ERod will still be here for a few more years.
  12. I agree. I think they need to open up a roster spot for a younger arm (Hernandez, Shawaryn) and give them a real shot.
  13. Posted on March 11th:

  15. Devers won player of the month for June.
  16. Bumgarner. His two big injuries were dirt bike accident (2017) and broken hand off line drive (2018). Bum's FB has ticked up a little this year. The conversation is definitely closer than anyone would have though back in 2015.
  17. That's not how it works though? You have to take the good and take the bad and there you have the facts of Porcello not being a guy I want around long term.
  18. He'll be back at some point. I'd expect it to be early fall.
  19. Sounds closer to being reasonable. I'm not sure I'd want the Sox to do it.
  20. Plate discipline wasn't his strong suit to begin with.
  21. Ball hit .330 as a senior in highschool. Judge hit .500. The Sox reached for Ball because of his athleticism. It was said over and over again by those in the organization.
  22. Winfield: In 1973, he was named All-American and voted MVP of the College World Series—as a pitcher. He was an athlete AND a great baseball player. A stand-out in baseball, Mauer struck out only once during his four-year high school career, and hit .605 during his senior season.[7][10][11] Years later, Mauer laughingly told an interviewer: "I can remember the time I did strike out. It was junior year, and it was in the state tournament. I came back to the bench and everybody thought something was wrong with me."[8] Mauer's high school batting average exceeded .500 every year.[9] He also set a Minnesota high school record and tied the national preps mark by hitting a home run in seven consecutive games.[6] Mauer caught for the Team USA Junior National team from 1998 to 2000 and hit .595 during his final year on the team. He was voted best hitter at the World Junior Baseball Championship in Canada in 2000. In 2001, Mauer was voted the United States District V Player of the Year. Seems like he was already a great baseball player, not just an athlete. https://gobulldogs.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=140 Judge was a great ballplayer too. My point and Jacko's point is that you go for the guy who can already hit the s*** out of the ball, not someone whose upside strictly comes from being an athlete.
