  1. Don't say "we're cutting payroll" and then right before ticket sales begin state "I didn't really mean that, it's not our intention to cut payroll, we're going to compete." That doesn't sound s***** to you?
  2. I don't believe the original poster was stating that they have NEVER been able to draft a starter, just that the starters they have drafted have been few and far between. Honestly, we can all see that they mightily struggle with developing starters and trading a few starters away hasn't hurt this current version of the Sox.
  3. My only point is that the concern of them "trading everyone away" falls flat when only one of the guys they traded away has a good chance of being a future All Star. Allen and Beeks are nobodies. If Logan Allen was slotted in as 5th starter, would it even improve this team? Would an upgrade to Beeks even make a blip on the radar?
  4. I wouldn't say that.
  5. Malcolm has kinda sucked since leaving the Pats.
  6. So? That has nothing to do with how Henry directly treated his ticket holders.
  7. He works for the paper owned by Henry. This wasn't an accident.
  8. Couldn't that be done with a phone call?
  9. A big assumption on behalf of Allen.
  10. Beeks is barely a starter. Buttrey is not a starter. Logan Allen was god awful at all levels last year. Kopech was traded away for Chris Sale.
  11. Nothing. Instead, they went with "we're cutting back payroll to get under luxury tax." Later on "we are going to compete this year, we don't have to cut payroll, it's not our intention." Of course they went with the "we're going to compete" as it got closer and closer to tickets going on sale. Then, they waited until well after tickets went on sale to the general public before they went through with the trade. I believe they intentionally held off on the trade until they were satisfied with ticket sales. Is that a conspiracy theory? Sure, but I believe it.
  12. My only complaint about him is that he always tries to be "first" to post about whatever the newest Red Sox IL victim is. It would have been easy enough to just post it in realistic view or spring training threads (especially since I had already posted about it prior to his post).
  13. Henry slashing payroll and increasing ticket prices for a mediocre team shows that he's no longer in touch with reality. (That's really been in question since his offseason ranting in '11-'12 to me.) I understand the need to get under the lux tax. I don't agree with how they went about it and all the double speak this offseason. I give him all the credit in the world for 04, 07, 13 and 18, but he can be damn embarrassing sometimes.
  14. Which ones did they trade away that are coming back to haunt us?
  15. You don’t know that.
  16. Who said everyone left? That’s not what Alex Speier said.
  17. Can’t believe Bloom didn’t plan on Sale getting pneumonia!
  18. So? You guys were bitching about ME turning into MA and CA.
  19. 19th in overall tax burden. https://wallethub.com/edu/states-with-highest-lowest-tax-burden/20494/
  20. Cheap copay at his office though!
  21. States with higher tax rates than MA: IA, SC. Wonder why nobody points to them as a high tax state? But my narrative!!!
  22. MA is middle of the pack for tax rates (5%). It’s bottom third for property tax rates.
