  1. When Clemens left, a lot of people thought he was fat and washed up. It's not the same as Betts leaving.
  2. People keep saying "pitching" but there isn't really anything of value left. Maybe Bloom has made a few MiLB offers to pitchers but they are holding out for something better? Maybe Bloom just doesn't like the pitchers left?
  3. Yeah, IDK. If you're going to say that everyone left, at least try to back up your position. However, if you don't know who Alex Speier is, I honestly don't think you're really paying attention and are just making stuff up. The Fangraphs interview I posted was conducted AFTER DD was let go. If DD had ruined the analytics department, I'm sure the Sox wouldn't be saying that it actually grew under DD's leadership.
  4. I like the Bloom is finding cheap options and upgrading everywhere he can, even if it's just at backup catcher. I wonder if Bloom just doesn't like the pitchers that are left sitting around in FA.
  5. Chris Cotillo: Sources: Red Sox close to deal with catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Depth option behind Vazquez, Plawecki. Likely a minor league deal.
  6. Bounce back season? Depth signing?
  7. Boggs, Nomar, Manny, Pedro were all on the downswing of their careers.
  8. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/a-conversation-with-red-sox-analytics-department-overseer-zack-scott/ I haven’t seen it noted anywhere that there was a mass exodus under DD. Read this interview where it states the department grew under DD. If you don’t know Alex Speier, you must not watch many Sox games.
  9. The last time a star player left near the top of his game was either Fred Lynn or Carlton Fisk. Lester is a step below those guys IMO.
  10. I would agree. I didn’t expect him to make miracles. He’ll need a few years to make his mark.
  11. Waiting on the panic move of re-signing Mookie this fall........
  12. @PeteAbe Attendance for the first #RedSox full-squad workout in recent years: 2017: 1,287 2018: 1,360 2019: 1,525 2020: 1,033
  13. Nationals stated they mixed up signs throughout the game and often during an inning. Maybe that's how they won?
  14. Fans to Henry rn: You deserve it! clap clap clapclapclap You deserive it! clap clap clapclapclap
  15. @joonlee Kennedy says Red Sox ticket sales are down 15 percent versus this time last year
  16. Boone, whose team played the Red Sox 23 times in 2018 between the regular season and postseason, said the Yankees didn’t necessarily have suspicions that the Red Sox were doing anything outside the rules. “I think there’s moments throughout the year when you’re always worried about that,” Boone said. “Not just with the Red Sox. All teams are guarding against that and there’s times that maybe they’ve got a tip or they’ve gotten something from somewhere. You also understand it’s on you to guard that, protect that and be aware of those things.” So Boone thinks there isn't smoke but Jacko does?
  17. We know why Tito was let go because THE SOX LEAKED THE STORY TO THE PRESS AND THREW HIM UNDER THE BUS. We can't blame that on the media...
  18. I only trade him if my medical staff is advising me that he's likely to break down or diminish as a player in the near future. Otherwise, ride or die. Re-sign Betts in the offseason.
  19. First Padres trade story was Jan 23.
  20. @jcmccaffrey Regarding whether they’ll try to pursue Betts next winter in free agency, Kennedy says they can’t comment on a player w/ another team but they’ve continually been among the top spending teams in baseball and have spent big when appropriate so they see next winter as no different
  21. It's also an ownership that has struggled with down periods (kicking Tito on his way out the door, not taking ownership of contracts that were signed, etc.). There's been a lot of bad to go with the good. I think it's why it makes this whole situation more frantic than it has to be.
  22. I don't believe it.
  23. I just think he took the absolute worst approach.
  24. I used the term All Star. I don't see where the other poster said "none of them would have made the Sox." All I'm doing is refuting the post I'm responding to.
  25. The only good pitcher they gave away was Kopech and he had TJS last year. His loss was offset with CHRIS SALE.
