  1. Austin Meadows on IL due to positive COVID test. He had been held out of practice for a while, so I'm guess he either directly knows someone who is sick or wasn't feeling well himself.
  2. Per @byJulianMack , Josh Ockimey and Bobby Poyner will be added to the 60-man player pool tomorrow along with previously announced Mata, Houck, Duran, Downs, and Groome. Clear focus on MLB-ready guys here, along with Groome, who is Rule 5 Draft-eligible this offseason. Did anyone have Ockimey on their bingo card? Not me.
  3. Clearly pitching is a bigger issue.
  4. Only 4 teams had over 900 runs last year. The Sox were one of them. Maybe the Yanks are marginally better, but it remains to be seen what effect a short season has.
  5. Not sure if they can make it work since FL is now the epicenter of COVID and players are always going to find a way to get out. Teams should just charter their own planes and play in empty arenas. I think it's probably safer to have a game in OKC than Orlando.
  6. @pgammo Reasons Boston must get their 3 power LHPs--Rodriguez, Hernandez, Taylor--in sync quickly:1. Current 5 man rotation was 19-20, 5.54 ERA in '19; 2.w/short rotation needs Taylor/Hernandez, 109 K/67.2 IP; 3.after 3 w/Orioles, 22 G to Aug. 19 w/Mets, Yanks, Rays, Jays, Phils.
  7. If Bloom can figure out how to start developing pitching, he should have a lifetime job here.
  8. Then why hasn't JD opted out yet? Maybe because your premise is bad?
  9. Did I say it was? May as well not talk about anything guys! The Sox may be bad this year and notin thinks we shouldn’t talk about it because it doesn’t matter!
  10. Please, we all go by they/them... also... we are much more refined than a household appliance... - Robot Ump
  11. Also, Verdugo's K rate in the 2nd half last year was 27%. Let's make sure he's healthy and productive before we automatically place him at the top of the lineup.
  12. You want Peraza hitting higher too?
  13. @ShamsCharania Multiple tips have been placed into the NBA’s anonymous hotline to report protocol violations on campus, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA . The NBA planning to play in an Orlando bubble while the virus is wreaking havoc on FL is the dumbest idea ever.
  14. But Kimmi... I am programmed to please the fans... Brrrrrp... My rear compartment also pops the popcorn... What can I do to assimilate you... Beeeeeep - Robot Ump
  15. I had just heard that ERod was the only one showing any symptoms and that it wasn't great. Glad he's feeling better.
  16. I'm 100% fine with that approach.
  17. ERod has been put on the IL due to COVID. Apparently, he's the only positive COVID Sox player that is not asymptomatic. He may not be back for a while.
  18. I think he's better in the studio after the game rather than during a live broadcast. Maybe looping him in throughout the game rather than forcing him to sit there for half an inning would work better? Like just wait for the right time in the game for him to include a statistical discussion about something that is currently happening in the game?
  19. For the Dodgers, he usually hit 2nd, 6th or 7th (about 30 games each). He only had 60 AB's after June and was pretty bad in September (553 OPS).
  20. Kimmi... if you like randomness... you can increase my strike zone variability... Also... I will allow fans to vote on my called third strike reactions... Beep Boop Beep... - Robot Ump
  21. Beep beep boop... I will not opt out... Boop beep beep... I am also 100% sanitary and can disinfect every ball... Beep Berrp... - Robot Ump
  22. Seems like Beni/Devers will definitely be one/two punch. Xander and JD may flip flop 3/4. 1B will be 5th. The bottom of the lineup may depend upon if Pillar or Verdugo is playing. Seems like Peraza is automatically 9th. JBJ has almost always hit directly behind Vaz. Seems that Pillar/Verdugo will either be 6th or 8th coming before or after the Vaz/JBJ combo.
  23. What the Sox were doing towards the end of ST was: Beni Devers Xander JD Chavis/Mitch Vaz JBJ Pillar Peraza We'll have to see if they move Verdugo up from 8, or let him stay down there until he heats up. He did miss substantial time at the end of last season.
  24. The data is fine, it's his personality that's a problem.
