  1. The issue with Mayer is health. I was hoping for one year where he put it together, but we still haven't seen it. He'd be the best defensive option for SS in '26. Maybe they could move him to 3b down the line, but he's a very smooth defender right now. Story had a lot of shortcomings to his game and needs to be moved to 2b.
  2. Rafaela should never play anywhere but out in the grass for the rest of his career.
  3. Rooting for the Brewers because they play the game the right way (high bb rate, low k rate, good defense, good pitching).
  4. Does Jazz blink and the ball automatically leaves his body at 80+ mph?
  5. He got injured early on and retired.
  6. Priester is currently sporting a 54.00 ERA in the playoffs for the Brew Crew.
  7. Early or Tolle are legitimate tradeable pieces. The guys left in the minors all are much lesser prospects or are Luis Perales (injury concern, running out of options, lack of professional innings). Sox need to weigh how they can add vs what they can take away. I'd rather not give anything up, but it may not be realistic if they want to be a WS contender in this window.
  8. Featured on some great posters in the 80's and 90's. I had this one:
  9. They may have to add a prospect to sweeten the deal for a #2 TBH.
  10. Buxton is coming off his best season of all time, but even then he STILL missed time due to an injury. He had a career high PA's last season at age 31 playing in 126 G. Well rested or made of glass? He's averaged 90 games/year since becoming a fulltime MLBer (ignoring 2020).
  11. Growing up, most hitters are used to learning almost exclusively off of RHP from dads, coaches and other kids. I can see how it's a little bit harder for LHB vs LHP as it's not as ubiquitous. Kids just don't get those reps during practice.
  12. And Game 2 is probably won 40-45% of the time if they play if over and over again. It was a very close series. If the Sox want to be WS contenders, they need to have a deeper rotation, better defense and add HR's or reduce k's IMO. K rates TOR: 17.8% #1 (low k, av HR) MIL: 20.3% #5 (low k, low HR) CHC: 20.7% #7 (low k, high HR) HR rates LAD: 244 #2 (av k, high HR) SEA: 238 #3 (high HR, high k) CHC: 223 #6 (low k, high HR)
  13. Spent the whole year in hiding while the Sox were doing well and then wait until the Sox get kicked out of the playoffs to post again? Now that sounds cowardly to me. 🤔
  14. I don't know why any team would be comfortable trading for the oft injured Buxton?
  15. Alonso's k rate was lower than BOS's k rate (barely). I think you can increase HR's, but grab a hitter that has an average k rate rather than an atrocious k rate like Anthony, Mayer, Campbell, Story, etc. Suarez's 29.8% k rate would fit in nicely with this team. 🤪
  16. They were 7th in runs and 11th in wRC+. There couldn't have been THAT many holes in last year's offense. I think the issue is that a high k lineup is just going to struggle against good pitching when it gets to the playoffs.
  17. And how much do we necessarily have to trust Steamer? What would happen if they switched to OOPSY or something else?
  18. Ian Cundall mentioned a lot of red flags in regards to Arias on the most recent SP podcast. He didn't go into detail, but this was after saying that he was "years away" and that offensively it's all on developing his hit tool. He said Arias is a very hard prospect to project right now.
  19. If another team has that much value on him, I'm moving him. I'd trade him for two Abreus.
  20. "Swung from their heels and infrequent contact" is the hallmark of Red Sox baseball right now. Guess we'll follow the Yankees postseason performance (especially their defensive lapses) until the org decides to head in a different direction. Right now, their offenses have a lot of parallel thinking.
  21. I just skipped Torres when writing the names down. Polanco hasn't declined his player option yet so isn't officially a FA, I believe. Torres signed for 1/15 and seems like a high price to pay for 2b. Not one Brezzz may be willing to pony up for IMO.
  22. Top 20 qualified SS's all had OPS's above 675. The guys below: Winn 3.5 fWAR (2nd best SS in the game) Lopez 2.3 fWAR (top 5 SS) Volpe 1.0 fWAR Lee 0.3 fWAR Meidroth 1.3 fWAR Ortiz 1.4 fWAR (top 5 SS) With these comps, he'd probably be in the 1.5-2 fWAR range if he only hit 675 at SS.
  23. Current FA hitters over 2 fWAR Schwarber - not leaving PHI Tucker - don't need another OFer Bichette - could be a good 2b, Sox aren't spending on him though Suarez - depends on Breggie opting out Alonso - too much $$$ for a DH? Grisham - no Naylor - not a good Fenway fit O'Hearn - don't need his LHB Yaz - no Realmuto - not needed
