  1. I stopped looking at BTV once they charged $.
  2. Masa has value if the Sox are willing to eat a good portion of his contract TBH. Only 2 seasons left. If the Sox pay half of his deal, you can probably find a taker and get a prospect. Or you just trade for someone else's bad contract. Or you just DFA the guy and clear the roster spot!
  3. Casas was already a bad 1b. Masa was already at DH. Brezzz needed to move one of them in the offseason and then communicate to Devers that he's going to spend the rest of his career at 1b. He'd have months to get ready. The transition would have been much easier on him if it was worked on during the offseason IMO. Maybe all along he wanted to trade Devers anyway? It wasn't his extension TBH.
  4. Bregman did not look very comfortable at 3b to start the year.
  5. The score doesn't mean anything. It's just for fun. Just look at the calc.
  6. If he wasn't injured. If they'll take him, I'm shipping him down.
  7. 2025 throwing errors: 0 DRS: 2 OAA: -1 He was better than some of the guys we had at 1b.
  8. And it's good that he's still putting up WAR. It makes it easier to trade him. He still has value.
  9. WAR is still a counting stat and Duran led all Sox in PA's. If you go by bWAR, Rafaela has more WAR with over 100 fewer PA's.
  10. When we all play fantasy CBO, we all value the players differently. Funny how that works.
  11. I think he shouldn't be ranked that high. Dude didn't throw 40 innings and was barely pitching 3 innings per start when he was out there. Had blister issues and a crazy walk rate. Bullpen arm IMO.
  12. It just comes down to them playing about the same number of total games played TBH. They really aren't similar hitters. Yandy's OPS+ is about 30 points higher, his bb rate is like twice as high and he has like 50% more career HR's than Verdugo. The math of the similarity scores just produces weird results.
  13. Helps that it's skewed by him playing out of his mind last season. Over half of his career fWAR is from 2024. Will he be that good again? Hard to say. If his offensive numbers don't bounce back, his WAR won't get to that 3 year average ever again.
  14. They'll get a good return for him. Hard to say what the Sox would give up. They reportedly had interest.
  15. Not for Hamilton, but I wouldn't trade Witherspoon for him. Hamilton and one of Sandlin/Clarke/Valera? Sure. Yandy for Justin Gonzales? I'd think about it. My personal rankings are also different. I wouldn't trade Fajardo/Godbout/Eyanson/Phillips in a deal for Yandy.
  16. 25: 31 DRS, 11 OAA, 116 errors 24: 49 DRS, -18 OAA, 115 errors 23: -20 DRS, -51 OAA, 102 errors Better than 23 when they had Kiké at SS, probably! Better than 24? Not so sure! Seems like it's close enough to be about the same. IDK. Maybe it's a big improvement if we just ignore DRS, but I honestly hear more people state DRS throughout the season than OAA.
  17. Anthony - extended Rafaela - extended Duran/Abreu - cheap and under control I don't see them going large on any position player TBH. If Freeman was on the market and 4 years younger, you do it, but only for a guy like that.
  18. You know it's the offseason when you start seeing things like this discussed. 😎🔫
  19. Casas was terrible at 1b. Romy was really bad early on (was injured because of it), but became playable over time. Toro was bad IMO. Lowe was capable. If you have a bad 1b, it really brings down the IF.
  20. LOL no. One year for a 1B/DH like Yandy isn't fetching a top 100 guy. If Brezzz trades Witherspoon for Yandy one for one, he should be fired on the spot.
  21. And Duran isn't a guy that gets a great jump on the ball. He's bad at reading the ball and needs his athleticism to catch up to the ball. He's not a good OFer. His speed in LF skews the metrics. The metrics are what they are. We don't have anything better right now. I've read that some people use OAA for OFers and DRS for IFers. IDK. 2025 in LF: DRS 11 OAA -3 (dinged by LF wall with formula)
  22. At times it was ok, at times it was not good. Behind the plate, it was much better. 1b was on and off a train wreck. Story was average at best. Bregman was average. 2b felt like 1b to me. Duran was worse than last season. Rafaela was great in CF but stunk at 2b. Anthony was good. Abreu missed a lot of time which made the defense worse. Sure, you didn't have the bad version of Connor Wong or Enmanuel Valdez/Rafael Devers out there, but you can't convince me that Romy is an average defender no matter what the metrics say.
  23. That's all I'm saying. If they want to make that next step from playoff team to WS winner, they need to tighten that up. Go from 30th in errors to 15th or whatever. Just don't be SO boneheaded. I've seen at other places people say "well, they only get errors because they are just so dang athletic and get to balls that no other players would get to." It's just not the case. Duran gets to those balls and if it doinks off of him, it's NOT called an error. He doesn't even get called for an error on 80% catch balls that just drop right next to him. What they are getting errors on are just the normal plays where they throw the ball away or just goof up so bad that the scorer needs to call it an E. Even Merloni has said on the broadcast that they barely call errors anymore, but somehow the Sox are getting them in droves.
  24. The Yankees are a terrible fundamental team. The Dodgers famously wanted to play them last WS because of it.
