Not sure who I trust less: Steinbrenner or the unnamed staffer. Saying that we wouldn't have traded for Pedro if we still had Mike Stanley is too much of a stretch in logic to me.

The MLB site speaks highly of his stuff, just that he struggles with control. Instead of being a frontline starter, he may just be a bullpen guy (Betances et al). If I'm not expecting to compete next year, I make that move 100%. If Henry is telling me that the Sox need to be well above .500, I may have to think twice.

I'd trade him for Andujar. I don't know enough about Abreu to say whether I would or not. doesn't seem like he had a very strong season in AA last year. Is he behind Mata and Ward on the depth chart?

It's hard to say what this team will look like. Are they going to bring up a bunch of young guys and replace departures of JBJ and whoever gets traded (Beni/JD/Moreland/Vaz). It's just a big question mark without knowing the roster construction. Will ERod be healthy? Will Sale?

Workman was done after this year. It's really Hembree for multiple years of control for former highly regarded starting pitching prospect Nick Pivetta and lottery ticket Seabold. Seems like a fine trade for the Sox.

In terms of trading Moreland, he has a very cheap option for next year and is still very productive as a platoon guy with Chavis/Dalbec. In order to trade him, you would need to get fair value. You aren't going to just dump him.

@ChrisCotillo Red Sox moves: * Outrighted LHP Stephen Gonsalves to the Alternate Training Site * Released RHP R.J. Alvarez * Outrighted RHP Mike Shawaryn and removed him from the Club Player Pool. So Gonsalves and Shawaryn cleared waivers. Gonsalves goes back to Pawtucket, Shawaryn stays in the organization but goes home. Alvarez is released.
