  1. I don't think Mazza is head and shoulders above any of those guys. I thought Springs looked like an MLB reliever at times last year. However, I don't want him closing out games like they had him do in 2020. You could probably make a case for any of those guys staying instead of the others (except for Pedroia).
  2. I appreciate that they just compile info from everywhere. I don't have the time to check 10 different websites about which C level player the Sox will sign next.
  3. Prospects - A player will generally graduate from prospect status once he exhausts his MLB "rookie" status." Rookie status is exhausted once a player: (1) has more than 130 at-bats in the majors; (2) has pitched more than 50 innings in the majors; (3) has been on an active major league roster for more than 45 days (not including September call-ups). So Dalbec will graduate sometime in late April.
  4. Yeah, I think MLBTR relies on everyone else for their info.
  5. I could see Walden getting picked up, but I don't think you'd fret about losing him. If I was able to keep one of those players, it would be Mazza.
  6. @Rotoworld_BB Report: Blue Jays are a "finalist' for Kirby Yates
  7. Potential cuts: Brewer Brice Mazza Springs Walden Pedroia Wilson
  8. Where is the 90 mph coming from? I know the very last start of 2018 that his velo dropped to 90 mph, but it was also that low on a start earlier in the season. In the playoffs that year, he was consistently hitting 96 mph on his FB. In 2019, his velo averaged only 90 mph for one start (second start of the year). The rest of the time he was averaging 91 - 95 with an overall average of 93.7.
  9. No, because it means he’ll never be traded.
  10. They signed awful contracts on the heels of a championship. Made no sense then.
  11. Does money at deadline matter or just payroll on April 1?
  12. Globe reporting that Pedroia will announce retirement in the next two weeks.
  13. @redsoxstats Rosenthal shoots down a Benintendi to Philly rumor as highly unlikely, the fit “hardly appears to make sense.” Also says his $6.6M salary should temper any trade return.
  14. Yup. Castillo would be perfect for a team looking for the one guy to put them over the edge. Sox are a few more players away than that.
  15. I think he's more likely to start for WOO than BOS. I think the Sox are more likely to either go with Arroyo or get a capable 2b FA on a short deal.
  16. The warning sign was when his k rate went to 25% in AA after the PED suspension in 2018. Without a SLG above 500, he's useless with that OBP.
  17. Baseball America Top 100 Ranking: @alexspeier Red Sox prospects Triston Casas at 48, Jeter Downs at 71, Bobby Dalbec at 90. Not surprising that nobody jumped up from the Sox system since there weren't any games to scout last year.
  18. If they think Houck can be a legit #4, that's a huge upgrade for the rotation. Remember, the Sox were much better at the end of the year than at the beginning. If they figure out an average rotation (no starts from Webber, Mazza, Brewer, Hart, et al), this team will be ok.
  19. Also, being suspended for PED's in 2018, certainly put his status in question. I'm not sure there were too many people thinking he'd be a long term solution in BOS (even when he started out hot in 2019).
  20. IDK... He was such an afterthought as a prospect due to his injury issues. He almost became #1 prospect by default. Groome had fallen off due to his injuries. Mata/Casas was just too far away. Houck was seen as a reliever. Beeks was just a guy. When a top 10 still includes Josh Ockimey, you knew the farm was in trouble.
  21. Must be his years of control. He's a great pitcher, but that valuation on BTV is out of control.
  22. @JonHeyman Anibal Sanchez will be working out with Julio Teheran, so it’s a 2-for-1 if teams want to get a peek at Anibal, too. Teheran showcase is Tuesday morning in Miami. Both pitchers are free agents. Sox are looking at both players.
