    I think the background helps, but you always go with the guy who is more talented. At some point, professional coaching is more important than the conversations you had as a child at the dinner table.

    Maybe they did the calculus and thought it was easier to let the story fade into the background and have Mickey walk out the back door rather than pull the bandaid off and bring it front and center to the media?

    With how casual he was about everything, I doubt it was just him having a bad day. Even if you take the interpreter comments out of it, having a guy at the top of the organization kinda rip into some of the players is just not a good look. It's why guys like Bloom deflect and don't speak directly to certain issues. There is no benefit to be gained by saying a guy is overpaid or underhandedly question a guy's personality.

    No, I've said that before. I think he can be a pretty good player, but his extensive injury history leads me to wonder if be closer to his floor than ceiling. He's just not the type of player you sign for 5 years. I want him to succeed and then the Sox turn him into a few good prospects. If he stays healthy, he could be a 30/30 guy. He just doesn't have that track record though. Does that lead me to make a Wily Mo Pena comparison? Nope.

    The real question is why Mickey Callaway hasn't been fired. https://www.mlb.com/angels/news/matt-wise-angels-interim-pitching-coach His alleged conduct is much worse than complaining about paying for an interpreter.

    Maybe? Reports are that he's have no after affects and that he's ready to go. Hard to say until we get through the year.

    Maybe it was the 6.12 FIP from last year? Maybe it's because he doesn't throw overly hard or get a lot of spin? There's just nothing that stands out about him. If he didn't have such a strong 2019, I don't think people would see him in the same light.

    I'm surprised they've stuck with Charlie Montoyo this long. They have a very talented lineup, but always seem to be undisciplined. As a team, they make some weird mistakes and decisions at times. I don't know if it's just because of the age of the players or they just aren't coached well.

    I don't see the point in worrying about pool money at the deadline. If they are buyers at the deadline, they should go all in rather than just picking up an extra 2-3M.

    That was my thinking. Seems like 2/12 makes sense. We also don't know if JBJ has turned down other offers or what else has been on the table. Seems like 2/12 would be far below his asking price. Also, it's cheap enough dollars where it doesn't really impact the team much if Duran/Francy/Verdugo become the opening day starters next season.

    Fretting for some rich ******* who got fired is a very weird look. MLB is very PR heavy. If you're dumb enough say some guys in your org are overpaid, have big personalities and need interpreters, you probably need to not be a spokesperson for the organization. Part of his job is to communicate to the public. He sucked at it and got fired. That's not "he got cancelled." HE GOT HIS ASS FIRED FOR BEING A DUMBASS.

    Like with all Boras clients, there are a lot of teams "showing interest" in JBJ. However, it's hard to say what the extent of the interest is. If the Astros and Mets are out, it seems like the higher bidders aren't interested. Maybe the Sox can swoop in and offer 2/12?

Feel like "the day after the defendants created a fantastic plaintiff's exhibit" is a good day to settle it!
