  1. What's JBJ's current offer?
  2. Moreland is currently under contract. JBJ is still unsigned. Maybe Moreland has more value than JBJ?
  3. 1. Blackout rules 2. Service time issues 3. Slow ass replay 4. No DH in NL 5. Luxury tax I'm trying to figure out where I'd put "lack of a payroll floor." Fans of the O's and Pirates seem to get royally screwed.
  4. I just remember that everytime Paplebon was brought in for the 8th inning, it seemed to go very poorly. I think closers want to close. They want the ball for 3 batters and to strike each of them out. They don't want to get up in the 7th.
  5. Are you trying to say that JBJ who has yet to sniff a contract this offseason wasn't a hot commodity at the deadline last year? Inconceivable!
  6. Tekulve is 73. The game that he pitched in doesn't really exist anymore. Eck only had like 25% of his career saves at the point Tekulve retired. Hard to say that his experience as a reliever prior to 1988 has much bearing on what the game looks like now.
  7. Better depth than last year.
  8. I want to say that relief guys can be slotted wherever and come into a any part of the game you need them to, but IMO these guys are creatures of habit. You need to slot them in to certain parts of the game so that they can be mentally ready to do what they do. I think bringing in a "closer" in the 8th and another guy for the 9th due to matchups doesn't work as well in reality as we'd like it to.
  9. Hoping for a discount in 2021?
  10. But the Stros and Mets were seen as bigger suitors. What happened?
  11. Should have nontendered him last year!
  12. I have that effect on people.
  13. The lamest part about baseball.
  14. I think that if there was a substantial early season injury to a starter, that they'd keep him as a traditional starter and not an opener.
  15. Maybe finalize an offer? Add a year? IDK.
  16. There's a chance, but I don't believe an opener is a traditional starter.
  17. I can't disagree with you because I haven't watched a YES broadcast in the past 18 years.
  18. @byJulianMack Jonny Miller ran through all of Martinez’s underwhelming stats from last year before asking question. Martinez: thanks for reminding me, Jonny. Legend.
  19. @ChrisCotillo J.D. Martinez said Jackie Bradley Jr. told him he has a couple offers and is waiting for a team to "take the next step" so he can sign.
  20. It might give you a leg up at some point, but once you become the college version of Leiter and Rocker, the issue about genetics becomes moot.
  21. I don't think so (though they didn't help). From Forbes: Mather had been accused of inappropriate workplace conduct prior to this latest controversy. According to the Seattle Times, when Mather was a Mariners executive vice president in 2009 and 2010, Seattle attorney Robin Phillips brought complaints against Mather on behalf of two women who worked as executive assistants for the team. The Seattle Times reported that the cases were settled out of court. Phillips also represents Lorena Martin, a former Mariners high performance director who filed a wrongful-termination lawsuit in 2018. Martin alleged she made complaints to Mather, minority owner Buck Ferguson and Stanton about a hostile work environment, but she was instead terminated from her position. The case was ultimately handled by an arbitrator, and the Seattle Times reported Monday that the case “was resolved,” according to Phillips. Martin declined comment.
  22. There's a reason guys like Vin Scully are once in a lifetime voices.
  23. No. Too many guys ahead of him in the pecking order. (This is only in reference of him being a regular 5-6 inning starter, they may use him as a opener or something at some point)
  24. If they are 5 games out and things aren't going great with Sale, you probably deal whatever isn't nailed down. If Sale is pitching again and the Sox are starting to turn it around, they should roll the dice and stick it out.
