  1. How many of those errors were made by MLB guys?
  2. Getting the large paycheck he got last year kinda skewed his perception of his market.
  3. Either that or they really didn't like the high priced FA's? Maybe they want to take this year to see which of the next generation can step up and supplement that core with FA's next offseason?
  4. Reading Shaughnessy AND looking at the comments is like viewing the sewer of fandom.
  5. Here's the Albies AB: https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1366476286273683458 He has great stuff. He's just young and has a ways to go. Fielding errors can be cleaned up over time. He's probably one of the top 5 Sox pitching prospects of the past 10 years, not that that's saying much.
  6. I agree. It's why it's good that he's still around. Decent chance for a bounce back. However, he's on the wrong side of 30 and won't be getting any better here on out.
  7. Driving slow in the left lane like most of my neighbors down here in God's Waiting Room.
  8. He lost velo last year. If it doesn't come back, he's toast.
  9. Here's Thad Ward vs Ozzie Albies: https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1366476286273683458
  10. As long as they don't have to say the LL Pledge to start the game...
  11. Seabold looked pretty good. Good "stuff.
  12. An old man turned 98 He won the lottery and died the next day Kinda ironic? It's all downhill from here. It's a black fly in your Chardonnay It's a death row pardon two minutes too late Holy s*** WTF... I didn't know this was a lyric And isn't it ironic, don't you think? It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye He waited his whole damn life to take that flight And as the plane crashed down, he thought "Well, isn't this nice?" And isn't it ironic, don't you think? NO it's just sad It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you When you think everything's okay and everything's going right And life has a funny way of helping you out When you think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up In your face A traffic jam when you're already late A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife It's meeting the man of my dreams And then meeting his beautiful wife Didn't know these ones either, but none are ironic And isn't it ironic, don't you think? A little too ironic And, yeah, I really do think It's like rain on your wedding day It's a free ride when you've already paid It's the good advice that you just didn't take And who would've thought, it figures And, yeah, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out Helping you out
  13. How dare you speak such inflammatory language!
  14. @alexspeier Impressive, impressive hands from Nick Yorke (Red Sox 2020 1st-rounder) against Braves LHP A.J. Minter. Yorke actually looked like his legs flinched a bit on a Minter slider with two strikes, but still pulled his hands inside the ball to drop a single to RF. Worth noting that last year, after he got to the Alt Site, the 18-year-old Yorke said he'd never really seen 90 mph velo. He took a good mid-count swing (for a foul ball) against a Minter fastball, then hung in for the single. The Sox went away from industry consensus in taking Yorke in the first round. They are absolutely convinced he's got special hitting ability. It'll take years to assess whether they're right, but his first glimpses (last year at Alt Site, now in ST) have impressed.
  15. Yorke is already better than Trey Ball: https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1366479801691815939
  16. Interesting that in Spring Training this year, you're able to roll an inning. "For Spring Training game through Saturday, March 13th, Official Baseball Rule 5.09(e) will be relaxed, allowing defensive managers to end an inning prior to three outs following any completed plate appearance, provided the pitcher has thrown at least 20 pitches." Love when MLB chooses to go with weird little league rules.
  17. Good defense and a good idea of what the k zone looks like. He's definitely a guy that can bounce around for his career at the very least. It raises his floor a bit.
  18. I'd keep all those AAAA guys around. Especially a guy like Walden who did have a pretty decent stretch at one point. Maybe he just flames out and his career ends in WOO this season? Maybe he become serviceable and gets another shot?
  19. Most likely it's nothing. I think with the injury concerns to the rotation, the last thing we'd want to happen is have Xander/Devers/Verdugo get injured.
  20. @JMastrodonato Xander Bogaerts had an MRI on his sore shoulder, per Chaim Bloom. Revealed "nothing concerning, no. All what you would expect. He should be ready (for opening day). Obviously we won’t skip steps with him ... it is a marathon not a sprint ... but we should have the time we need." Xander having a sore shoulder on 3/1 is not great.
  21. @alexspeier Scouts have said that OF Jeisson Rosario's offensive potential is difficult to evaluate because of the infrequency with which he swings. He took all 6 pitches he saw to work a full-count walk in his first spring training AB. His K rates have been OK considering his age and level (just over 20% in A at age-18 and HiA at age-19). His walk rates are insanely high (over 16% in HiA), perhaps the better indicator. But B.B. rates aren’t sustainable across levels without offensive impact.
  22. The Red Sox outrighted Marcus Walden to Triple-A after the right-hander cleared waivers, and Walden is remaining in Boston’s big league spring camp.
  23. @SoxProspects Great catch by Cesar Puello, reaching over the bullpen to take a home run away from top Braves prospect Cristian Pache. Puello is not known for his defense but he just demonstrated how he's capable of playing all three outfield positions adequately. That's why Bloom has kept him around. The mantra of this team is definitely versatility.
  24. This thread would go down on Dave Coulier in a theater. 10/10
  25. Well, sarcasm and irony are 2 completely different things for the most part. Irony: rain on your wedding day, free ride when you've already paid, good advice that you just wouldn't take Sarcasm: rain on your wedding day IS ironic, free rides when you've already paid ARE CERTAINLY ironic too and good advice that isn't taken is LITTERALLY THE MOST IRONIC THING OF ALL TIME and not just some dumb decision the songwriter made because they have cotton balls in their ears and failed a 3rd grade vocabulary lesson that included the word "irony."
