    You see, JD would have even been worse the extra 100 games, Raffy would've taken longer to turn things around and the pitching would have been worse! This ignores how luck impacted the Sox in a short season (ranked high in total bases, high in left on base, high in double plays and low on sacrifices). Over the course of a full season, more runners on base would mean more runs, which means more wins.

    He's a capable CFer for now. Re-signing him would be throwing a bone to the fans. There is a big hole in CF. The only reason not to do it is $$$.

    I would say he's more deserving than the guys you mention. I'm just saying that there's a chance that he's just and up and down guy anyway.

    Can move players in Spring Training. During Spring Training and during the MLB regular season up through August 31st, an injured or ill player can be placed on or transferred to the MLB 60-day Injured List only if his club's reserve list is full A player cannot be placed on the MLB 60-day Injured List after the conclusion of the MLB regular season, and during the post-season and off-season, up until the start of Spring Training (beginning on the date that pitchers & catchers are scheduled to report). Thursday is pitchers & catchers.

    @redsoxstats After a couple of years of horrible depth and relative ease in lopping off large chunks of the 40-man roster, I think the team is finally getting to the point of starting to have to make harder decisions with future transactions.

    Buckner had a 4.5% k rate. He often noted that he'd do his best to choke up and protect the k zone with 2 strikes. He said that he probably would've been much more of a power hitter if he didn't care about striking out.

    Taylor didn't have a long stretch of success. Hard to say what he actually is regardless of COVID.

    I haven't heard either way if they're going that route again. I've heard just as much talk about a 6 man rotation.

    @ChrisCotillo Kickham, Triggs, Godley, Leyer, Lin, Puello, Peraza, Covey, Hall, Hart, Weber, Stock, Tapia, Aybar, Munoz, Grullon, Chatham, Mazza and Springs gone off the 40-man since the end of the year. Puello, Hall, Hart, Weber, Munoz remain in org. Mazza/Springs pending DFAs.

    @MikeSilvermanBB Red Sox players will find JetBlue Park turned inside-out, literally, into a tent-city. For masked fans, it's look, don't touch: Scan yourself in at gate. No cash, please. No live anthem. No hawkers. Head to your seats, 75% of which are zip-tied shut.

    The pen hinges on two things IMO: How good is Ottavino (real wild card)? Can Brasier be the good version again? I think we already know what we are getting out of Barnes for better or worse. Sawamura has some control issues, but the Sox lived with Joe Kelly for a while. Darwinzon could eventually become the leader of the pen if he finds the plate more reliably. Andriese will be fine.

    On Marwin: @ChrisCotillo For now, this is the last outstanding signing for the Red Sox. If the timing works out, the 40-man move can be moving Sale to the 60-day IL.

    @RedSox The #RedSox today signed RHP Hirokazu Sawamura to a two-year contract, with a dual club/player option for the 2023 season. To make room on the 40-man roster, the club designated LHP Jeffrey Springs for assignment.
