  1. Sure, you could trade for a guy who missed half of a season with a forearm strain. You could also get him and then wind up paying for his time spent rehabbing TJS and not getting anything of value.
  2. Shota's HR/9 went up, K/BB went down, his xSLG increased almost 100 points, his 4 seamer went from 4 RV to -10 RV and he lost about 1 mph on all his pitches.
  3. Not if it's hitting vs LHP @ 30% vs 15%. I don't think it's a material impact to development.
  4. Yeah, so like how Crochet was brought up. Do that to Mayer, but with platooning.
  5. 9.8% (league av is 8.2%) so not an absurdly high amount. It's lower than Devers, Anthony, Lowe, Refsnyder, Campbell and Bregman. About the same as Abreu. He's a guy who thinks he knows the k zone better than he actually does.
  6. He's had years where he's close to elite (22), but he typically doesn't put it all together.
  7. Taking a stand against everyone? You've already had people agree with you.
  8. His value remains in his overall season. I never said he's a career platoon guy, just that he'd get platooned this year.
  9. If they trade him, they then have to go out and find a replacement and the FA options are poor.
  10. He had to because of the injuries at 1b and 3b causing a lack of IF bodies. If they re-sign Breggie for 3b and sign Hoskins for 1b, Mayer will definitely slow roll it out of ST in a platoon with Romy.
  11. I don't mind a walk too much, but he's definitely too passive at the plate. If there's a pitch in the zone, he needs to look to hammer it early. If it's borderline with 2 strikes, he needs to completely change his approach. The whole idea of protecting the plate with 2 strikes and fouling a pitch off has been removed from the game.
  12. Mercury poisoning. I bet he's been infected by the Greaseman's Tuna Fish Song.
  13. Sorry, I edited out a sentence. It's called 3rd strike percentage. The amount of strike outs where a batter doesn't swing.
  14. "Sorry mom, I gotta sub in the neighbor's pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving this year. You can still bring everything else you wanted to prepare."
  15. I think we started to see Duran get platooned more and more in '25 because of his split concerns. My guess is that continues in '26.
  16. I think there's a big difference if he's set to be on the roster as a 2b or a 3b. If he's 3b, it's to be fulltime. If he's 2b, I bet he platoons with Romy.
  17. I think Merloni is just wrong about Cease's profile. Probably just adding his spin to what he's heard about Ryan and the Sox. Cease has a good whiff rate, but he just doesn't keep the ball in the zone and it leads to additional runners. He's not for me.
  18. Players above 28% called third strikes (league av is 23.5 FWIW) Campbell 36 Casas 37 (40 in 24, 27 in 23 - best season, 40 in 22) Sogard 42 Eaton 42
  19. 7/25 3 IP 7 ER 7/30 - 9/19 61 IP, 3.69 ERA (15 HR) 9/25 5.2 IP 8 ER 2nd in starters w/ 100 IP 1.93 HR/9
  20. I used to take my lunch break down in Oakland Beach when I worked in Warwick. Too long of a commute for me now though. Hendricken is right by the duckpin bowling alley in Warwick. We had a few fundraisers there.
  21. So at some point he'll be a platoon, but at some point he'll be a fulltime starter. How does that bet work?
