An idea that was offhandedly floated at the beginning of the offseason. Idea is that starters would be out of whack from last year.
However, you rightly point out they probably don’t have the staff to do it.
Sawamura update:
@PeteAbe
Hirokazu Sawamura yet to make an appearance at #RedSox camp. Cora said it should be less than a week and that he's on a throwing program where he is.
@redsoxstats
Vazquez down 15 pounds, Dalbec down 10, Raffy and JDM slimmed down. @MarlyRiveraESPN
was on the Baseball Tonight podcast today talking about how it stuck out to her how good the Red Sox fitness level was.
That time of year again, folks.
We could be in for a very wild rollercoaster of a ride for this season with Dalbec. Dude could mash and be on the All Star team. A more extreme version of the Chris Davis MLB experience?
This is a guy who OPS'd well over 900 last season at age 25. We can only expect him to be at or better than that as he enters his prime 27-31. I haven't been wrong in my projections of similar players like Devers over the past 5 years!

He could either be a big bargain or just a guy who never makes it out of Spring Training. He's averaged 15 starts the past 6 years and only 84 innings. If anyone is a low risk/high reward guy, it might be him.

Red Sox games on tv next week:
Mon March 1, Braves, 1p NESN
Tue March 2, Rays, 1p ESPN
Sat March 6, Twins, 1p NESN
Sun March 7, Braves, 1p NESN
Jim Rice
Mo Vaughn
Pedro
Devers
There were substantial gaps between all 4 players where I didn't have a favorite active player. Really, when Pedro did his final media interview during the 04 playoffs and inferred he didn't know where he'd be in 05, I realized that having a favorite player is just next to impossible these days.
Probably just call up Arauz in the mean time. Maybe not even worry about it until April? They can use 75 players in ST, so they don't have to stick to just the 40 man for workouts and games.
