Interesting. I don't see the Orioles making a big jump in the standings this year. They have some interesting players, but are still very mediocre. -

Ockimey would have to hit first. It hasn't looked good so far. Would they consider promoting mediocre Tate Matheny since he can play all over the place and it's not going to affect his development?

I think he didn't spend large this offseason on SP was less due to our prospects and more due to it not being the right year to open the checkbook. I think it's likely that he grabs a big name arm or two the next two offseasons.

I'm not going to revisit last year's entire squad, but there are quite a few arms aside from Brice who have flopped. I'm also not sure he can take all the credit for Whitlock since scouts didn't know at rule 5 draft time about his increased velo or the new change that he developed in ST thanks to Andriese.

His knuckler would definitely have a high spin rate.

It's funny that our biggest needs 1B/2B/LF all happen to be our best offensive prospects. The pen may be a "mess" but it's still top 10 in baseball. Getting rid of the bottom 2 guys and replacing them with productive young arms will help.
