  1. If league average is 24%, it's hard to get upset over anything less than 30% or so.
  2. Hernandez is a bat only catcher who has an OPS of 767 in AA. There's a non zero chance he needs to be moved off position and his bat may not carry him anywhere else. May: 729 OPS June: 543 OPS July: 1222 OPS For a guy who was on a taxi squad last year, he needed to start faster than he did. I hope he can continue his hot streak, but we'll have to see.
  3. If I posted in the gamethreads, they'd be much more enjoyable.
  4. If you have to go to the Yankees, at least get overpaid and drag the team down with your performance. That's a true Red Sox.
  5. And maybe not even Hernandez.
  6. Kavadas also is 4 years older than Mayer and outweighs him by well over 50 lbs. Kavadas is basically a softball player that only hits bombs.
  7. I doubt he'd avoid deals like that.
  8. https://www.milb.com/player/alex-scherff-669085?season=2021&team=546 Between GRE and POR, Scherff has a 1.11 WHIP, 4/1 k/BB. If you ignore his first game (hadn't pitched in a game situation since 2019) he has only given up 3 runs all year. That first appearance included 3 bb's and a HR. Since then, he's only allowed 8 bb's in the next 20 appearances.
  9. It may come down to Ward vs Scherff. Scherff has been written off, but has pitched really well this year. I could see a team being more likely to grab Scherff than Ward.
  10. Plawecki has played well below his 2020 performance. He won't be back next year.
  11. There was probably an emphasis on not mortgaging the future, but I bet he'd make smaller deals for prospects he doesn't think will make it.
  12. Devlin Granberg has continued to mash after being promoted to Portland. GREE: 27 G, 1.058 OPS POR: 22 G .979 OPS He went 4 for 6 last night and has a HR in the last 3 games. Has always been projected as an org guy. Not sure how much higher his ceiling is since he doesn't walk much.
  13. Signing deadline is 8/1. My guess is most of the signees, if not all, would go directly to the FCL.
  14. Maybe if he at least got on base?
  15. He’s better than Lynn. I think there are other guys who had peaks better than that.
  16. Which of Yaz or Ted were 5 tool guys?
  17. If we are just talking “peak” it’s hard to overstate late 70’s Rice.
  18. Yaz > Boggs > Rice > Evans > Nomar > Lynn For now, Betts somewhere in the Rice/Evans/Nomar discussion. Depending on how he ages, he could be better than Boggs. Maybe he drops off the map like Nomar or ages poorly like Rice did?
  19. I work in a shipyard. Lots of the guys only speak spanish or portugese.
