    At some point, the Sox have to throw a bone to Red Sox Nation TM. They need to extend somebody long term. Why not Xander and Raffy?

    I would sit Xander down and try to reason with him that RF and 2B would be a better fit for him as he ages.

    Sign Story and have him play 2B. If Xander leaves, Story moves to SS. If Xander stays, try to work out who gets SS long term.

    Vs LHP, I think you guarantee Dalbec a start. Against RHP, I'd probably put Schwarber at 1b and JD in LF. Kiké would be in CF and Verdugo in RF.

    No, I'd rather him put the ball in play. There is a higher likelihood of success if the ball is put in play than if it just lands in the catcher's mitt. How many times did he put the ball in play and avoid a DP rather than just k?

    Signing a FA would cost a QO comp pick at most. Trading for Bogey would cost prospects plus the worry of Bogey leaving at year end. Better to go with the stability of the FA class IMO. It's the opt out that hurts Bogey's value the most.

    To me, Verdugo is on the bench vs LHP. JD would play LF, Kiké CF and Renfroe RF. Then you'd just go with the guy at 1b that would provide the best OPS vs LHP, right?

    @PeteAbe A few #RedSox notes: * 19 of Dalbec's last 27 hits have been for extra bases. His OPS was .651 on July 30. It's .786 now. * Sox have allowed 18 unearned runs in the last 8 games. * Sox are 9-9 since their Covid outbreak. * Shaw has a .960OPS in 19 games with the Sox.

    My targets? I actually like Xander's defense more than most other posters.
