  1. You would want one k zone for all players? An automate k zone based on the average height of every player? The rulebook says the actual k zone is called differently.
  2. If we DFA'd this entire list, it wouldn't materially affect the organization. My guess is they try to keep Rosario around and Maybe Davis/Rios until better options are available. I think they try to keep the catchers you have listed, unless they want an upgrade over Plawecki.
  3. If we can make self driving cars that intentionally turn into pedestrians, we certainly can make software that recognizes each player's individual strike zone.
  4. Sale needs to throw a few of those f*** you fastballs tonight.
  5. Bello Downs Santos Wickowski Jimenez Crawford Feltman Are either put on 40 man or traded IMO.
  6. It's not perfect, but probably better than the umps themselves.
  7. Try as I might, I have yet to see a ghost runner. Maybe need to adjust the settings on my tv.
  8. Armchair is to Quarterback as Stool is to Catcher.
  9. It would have been like a team grabbing Whitlock in 2020's rule V draft. It we're talking 18 month recovery Thaddeus won't be back until 2023.
  10. TBD is probably Sale. Sox need to blow the doors off of these lowly teams as much as possible. Try to save some of those pitching bullets.
  11. If he was sitting in a chair behind home plate, he would have caught it.
  12. Correct. I could see a team thinking about doing this for Ward, but it's a long shot IMO.
  13. @SoxNotes The Red Sox begin their final homestand tonight. They lead the AL in runs scored per game (5.7), AVG (.278), and OPS (.826) at home. The Sox are 44-29 (.603) at Fenway, including 34-18 (.654) since May 13.
  14. @alexspeier The Red Sox still believe Chris Sale - who tested positive for COVID-19 last Thursday - is on track to be cleared by the MLB/MLBPA joint committee to pitch tonight against the Orioles. If he was unvaccinated, he would have had to miss 10 days (return on Monday).
  15. I didn't like the box at first, but it's fine. There's enough other nonsense during the games that can go away first.
  16. Active roster AND his service clock starts once he's on the 60 day IL I believe.
  17. That begins his MLB service clock.
  18. No chance he goes up to AAA to start the year. He needs an extended look in AA. It's not like he was lighting the world on fire in Greenville.
  19. SoxProspects updated their rankings. Mayer - 2 Yorke - 3 was 10, which feels about right because he's been mashing Downs - 5 was 2, he may drop even further, nightmare season for him Bello - 6 was 24, I struggle trusting the arms that jump up out of nowhere he's got the tools though Groome - 9 was 13, he's had a remarkable turnaround Jordan - 10 was 17, would be nicer if he got more run in Salem Murphy - 12 was 23, reliever profile probably because of his horrible splits Wikelman - 14 was 48, see the Bello comment Winckowski - 16 was 27, I guess it feels right, but once you are this deep into the system a hangnail is the difference in 10 spots Bleis - 17 was 40, he's being given the "real deal" moniker, Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate Paulino - 21 was NR Kutter - 25 was NR, probably on the 40 man next season Walter - 26 was NR, starting to get a lot of press
  20. Well, last offseason's plans would have been WORSE if they signed Ozuna.
  21. Mazara currently is sitting at home, waiting for his chance to play teeball at Fenway.
  22. And Nick would quip back, "well I never see you at third."
  23. Need a spell check on that one.
  24. @redsoxstats Red Sox starters have a combined .328 BABIP this season. That is the 3rd highest by a MLB starting rotation in the 2000s. Defense unbelievably bad at turning balls in play into outs. Eovaldi .320, Rodriguez .358, Pivetta .283, Richards .335, Perez .338, Houck .341, Sales .379 Worst BABIP: 2020 PHI 2020 BOS 2007 TBD - 66 W 2012 COL - 64 W 2021 BOS 2007 FL - 71 W 2017 DET - 64 W 2016 ARI - 69 W 2017 NYM - 70 W 2016 MIN - 59 W 2021 Sox are the only ones with a winning record in the top 15. No need to upgrade the defense. This is a recipe for future success!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. More evil than Pinky and the Brain?
