    Anyway, season saved: @TomCaron Brad Peacock starting tonight for the #RedSox. He went 5.1 for Columbus (AAA) on Friday night, meaning he's going on three-days rest.

    Plawecki will be gone sooner than later. Wong doesn't seem to be good. Bazardo wasn't already in the system? The Ottavino deal was questionable since they were trying to stay under the cap AND it helped the Yanks. Rios/Munoz/RHern/Valdez don't move the needle for me.

    I didn't think they needed offensive upgrades unless they got something cheap for 1b like Schoop or Aguilar.

    I think they'd have a much better chance if they traded for 2 adequate relievers at the deadline. They didn't need Kimbrel at the time, just bodies not named Davis and Robles. .

    What are the 25 guys not in the organization prior to Bloom they added to improve the 40 man? I think Bloom has been ok. I think you are overstating what he has done this year. The good moves: Pivetta/Seabold trade Sawamura signing Whitlock Rule 5 Arauz Rule 5 Arroyo semipermanent IL fixture Kiké Renfroe Schwarber for 1.5 months (but I'd rather have Aldo)?

    I'm jaded by the Sox not making ANY substantial moves at the deadline for pitching and then falling flat on their faces. This team could go first to fourth in less than 2 months.

    @SPChrisHatfield We've now heard from multiple sources, as we've speculated, that Jay Groome is indeed being promoted to Portland for his next start, which should be Thursday or Friday.

    For some god forsaken reason, Grady Little started Manny Ramirez in RF in Fenway 3 times in August of 2002.

    To get to the 04 team's record, they'd have to go 23-6 the rest of the way. If they do that, I'll be on board.

    I'd feel more better about their chances if they were the 4th best team rather than the 5th best team. However, when they won with a WC team, they had the second best record in the AL. This year, they are legitimately the 5th best team. It's not really comparable IMO. If this team was a game or two behind the Rays at season's end and then went to the playoffs, it'd be a different feeling around these parts. We aren't there.

    Especially when the #4 pick was the best player in the draft. Even if he flames out, he's not Trey Ball.

    I'm not sure how much LF in Fenway affects UZR/150 since Beni still only has a 1.6 fWAR in KC this year. I'm sure there's a marginal affect, but it's not over the top. Playing Manny or Millar in RF at Fenway is just tempting the gods.

    Where we are right now, I don't see the harm in DFAing Robles, calling up Ort, DFAing Perez, calling up Feltman. Why they opted to bring up Espinal is beyond me. Valdez has been better than Davis/Robles and they stashed him in AAA for some reason.

    If they keep Kiké in CF, I agree with our needs assessment.
