  1. The more money you tack on, the less you get in return.
  2. There were more, but it's debatable if any of them were better than Max. Price Greinke Cueto Zimmermann Samarzija Leake Kazmir Happ Lackey The real bargain was Rich Hill at 1/6. Sox should have just said "we'll give you a rotation spot."
  3. He just wants the pain killers to hit over Halloween weekend. Makes sense to me.
  4. Yankees seem to like injury prone guys, so I guess it makes sense. If I was GM, I'd go for Correa.
  5. Yes, he'd lose "a few" million, but unless the arbitration dollars go through the roof, it'd be close enough.
  6. Let me try: 1. Casas - Votto 2. Mayer - Cal Ripken Jr 3. Yorke - Jeff Kent 4. Duran - Ellsbury 5. Downs - Didi 6. Bello - Luis Castillo 7. Jimenez - Starling Marte 8. Seabold - Porcello 9. Blaze - Justin Turner 10. Groome - Sidney Ponson
  7. Maybe. He would be up for arbitration in years 4, 5 and 6. He'd make 8/15/20 in those years? He could make a few million more if he goes through arbitration, but this would be a guaranteed amount of money that would set him up for life even if he has a career ending injury.
  8. His ceiling was Justin Morneau. He just never got there. Those comps weren't trying to forecast what the player would be, but what the player COULD be if everything broke right.
  9. 6/17.5M... I think Wander wouldn't go for that.
  10. Think they've offered anything to Wander yet?
  11. The move seems obvious in retrospect, but at the time, the narrative was elsewhere.
  12. Maybe?
  13. Maybe in 7 years we can find one retrospectively.
  14. And if anyone is really a masochist and wants to read about what we were posting that offseason you'll be treated to multiple pages of people wanting to trade Betts, Bogaerts, ERod and anything else not nailed down for Stanton, Strasburg or a whole host of other deals that would have been horrid in retrospect. Was there a lively discussion about Max Scherzer? Of course not! We ONLY wanted Lester back and barely mentioned any other picture except for cheaper guys like James Shields. There's also a lot of really lame fights thrown in for good measure.
  15. Hot take.
  16. Eovaldi's "they aren't high on my list" comment is blander than my sister's mashed potatoes. I don't know how anyone could be offended by that.
  17. Yeah, I could see him either wanting Tatis money or just take it to arb.
  18. ^^^ If he played any other position, his stock would be much higher. Being a 1b only profile is a big ding on his value.
  19. Wander or Devers? Wander seems like a potential max contract guy. Devers does not.
  20. Agree with the durability aspect.
  21. He would get a boatload of money and it would NOT have been worth it.
  22. Jim Palmer's career really fell off in his mid 30's. Halladay's last good season was at 34. Drysdale retired at 32.
  23. Pedro was terrible after 33.
  24. Throwing good money after bad. George wouldn't have allowed this. Sad!
  25. @Feinsand Cashman: "Bottom line, shortstop is an area of need. We have to address it." Gleyber to 2B Correa to SS
