  1. Ah s***. Did he go to UofA? Why did I think UF?
  2. What's the benefit to his wife saying he doesn't have COVID? We could actually get some payroll tax credits if we could use his time as COVID time. He's out of PTO so he won't be paid going forward. If he had COVID, he would get paid. It seems weird to say that I should be skeptical of someone on a ventilator that doesn't have COVID. There's a lot of nasty s*** going here around that isn't COVID. My daughter spiked a fever over the weekend. No COVID. Her tests came back negative for everything. RSV has been rampant in the infant class at our kids' school. A lot of people here are getting pneumonia without a positive COVID test. COVID is no joke, but there's lots of other stuff running around right now too. I realize that FL has fudged the numbers for political purposes. I know people here both vaccinated and unvaccinated that have gotten COVID. One of my wife's friends got COVID and was on a ventilator. He developed double pneumonia. He lost 20 pounds while in the hospital and he was a big dude who did strongman competitions. It's scary as hell. After getting discharged from the hospital, he had to go back a few days later due to blood clots. Now he's sitting at home doing breathing exercises. His big goal is to be able to hold his breath for 10 seconds at a time. He can barely do that. It's f***ed up. Anyway, get vaccinated everyone. Wear a mask. Don't run around doing whatever you feel like regardless of your vaccination status.
  3. Maybe his mind should be on baseball then.
  4. I mean, he was a two way player at UF.
  5. Probably has. Though a one game WC loss to the Sox could change it.
  6. They are due for positive regression against a team that struggles every year to be 3rd place in their division.
  7. I was really down on him earlier this season. He's not pitching great, but just getting through this season healthy is a big step. He just hasn't had the opportunity to truly develop.
  8. DH that can play various other positions if s*** hits the fan.
  9. Move Dalbec to LF.
  10. It's not the franchise, it's outside scouts as well. They see potential in him. Unfortunately, a lot of guys with "potential" at low A just never make it.
  11. It's obvious a certain GM was trying to save his job at the deadline, while the other rival did not feel that urgency.
  12. I guess Kiké and Barnes were both vaccinated. The status of the others is uncertain. The only guy who is definitely not vaccinated is Josh Taylor who is out as a close contact. Per MLB rules, close contact designation only applies to nonvaccinated contact.
  13. Why don't hitters just go on a tear for 162 games?
  14. Ah yes, their true talent right now is at their bottom, not when they are peaking. Very observant. If the Yanks play the Sox in the WC, it'd would be absolutely hilarious if the Yanks blew it to such a terrible team!
  15. Is your argument that we should just hide his bad defense at 3b?
  16. I'm fine with it. At least they would play him now.
  17. Either Cora finds a good coach to work with Dalbec over the winter or Dalbec should be the opening day DH. He's bad there. UZR/150 Dalbec -4.9 1b, -2.9 3b David Ortiz -3.6 career Hanley -0.3 career Napoli 0.7 career AGon 3.3 career (two best seasons were with the Sox) Youk 9.5 career I can't think of a Red Sox 1b that was worse than Dalbec. He's been so bad. He's worse than David Ortiz and Ortiz barely played 1b. The only person you can compare him to is when they tried to transition Hanley there. Hanley was still way better. Dalbec is just embarrassing himself out there.
  18. To me, he is very stiff. My eyes tell me he won't be good at 3b. He projected to be average, but I think his defense has continued to decline in 2020 and 2021. I don't think he'd project as an average 3b going forward. The one thing he has going for him is his strong arm. He could throw a lot of runners out, but I think he'd struggle to get to balls.
  19. He had a 11% BB rate in August. If he can do that going forward, he'll be much more useful. That 1.6% in July will never cut it. He's a guy who barrels the ball and makes hard contact (top 2%), but has such a big hole in his swing that he's bottom 1% in k rate. -6 runs against FB. -5 runs against slider. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/bobby-dalbec-666915?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  20. It's not an assumption. When you watch the games, you see how stiff he plays. How would that get better at 3b? If another team wants to have him there it's fine by me.
  21. At this point, he doesn't have the ceiling of a frontline starter, but nobody could complain if he turned into a #4.
  22. Should have been Robles.
  23. No, that's not "the way it is." His defense has gone downhill. If he sucks at 1b, there's no way he'd be good at 3b. The plays he messed up last night, he'd mess up at 3b too. He would need more mobility at 3b, but he doesn't have the quickness. While he is "faster" than many others on the Sox, it takes him a while to get to top speed. He's slower to 1b than Devers. He'd be slower on any hard shot to 3b. Devers has decent range. Dalbec's range would be terrible.
  24. I don't think Baez understands what this does to his long term value. I don't know what is going on with Lindor, but I'm glad we didn't bring him here. Seeing that Pillar was part of this nonsense, it's not surprising that Bloom didn't bring him back. He was cheap and filled a need. As usual, Bloom has more info on these guys than all of us combined.
  25. Pneumonia is spreading rapidly in FL. Lots of cases from people testing negative with COVID. My HR director has been in sedation on a ventilator for 12 straight days. No COVID.
