  1. Mullins 2021 expected HR per ballpark: BAL 27 BOS 26 NYY 40 KC 16
  2. He also may just really enjoy Camden yards: 22 HR - home 8 HR - away
  3. I would agree but he made a pretty substantial change in his hitting last offseason when he decided to give up on hitting right handed. Is the power legit? IDK. He has a nice swing and could still be a very productive hitter at 15-20 HR's.
  4. No, because we got Price instead and continue to litigate it.
  5. Lowe left after his age 31 season with so much baggage that he needed a Uhaul to leave the stadium.
  6. The players that were perceived to have been let go early in their career: Lester Betts Ellsbury Everyone else mentioned was let go when their career was on the downturn, even if some had productive seasons left. With Betts, you could see 10 more productive seasons. If Bogey leaves, you could see another 6-7 years. Raffy? Another 10 years if he leaves. The worry is that there are legit concerns about Bogey and Raffy staying. Letting homegrown players like that walk is a bad look for a "big market" team. The sting is much less if it happens when they are 34.
  7. As you said, RBI is generally inflated or deflated depending on who is ahead of you in the order. Swap Kiké and Dalbec and I bet Kiké's RBI #s look good.
  8. I don't know the peak value. I'm sure Bloom has a better idea of a prospect playing over their heads. There were lots of calls from posters wanting to trade Betts and Bogaerts 7 years ago. I wasn't one of them. Sometimes you trade guys because you have a greater need at another position. Sometimes you trade guys because your organization values a different type of hitter or pitcher. There are lots of reasons to trade a guy. It's just up to Bloom to make sure that the value he receives is commensurate with what is being given up.
  9. Conversation originally started with me saying: Duran/Mata for Mountcastle/Means Then moon said he wanted to do that deal, but for a grab bag of prospects including Dalbec, which I was also fine with because it still included Means. I think Mountcastle is an improvement upon Dalbec, but I don't see the Sox doing a 3 for 1 deal for Mountcastle that included Dalbec and other legit prospects.
  10. It depends on what the other pieces are.
  11. I mean, I'd take Cedric Mullens.
  12. Is 3 years of Trivino a real coup?
  13. Tell me more about the joys of 2005, 2006, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2020. Were those seasons fun for everyone? If there weren't a few WS flags in there, don't you think that fans would be more pissed. If the playoffs are a crapshoot, you can't guarantee to get a ring every few years while alternating with pissing off your fans. At some point, you'll just piss off your fans and end the season with a loss for a few decades.
  14. Mountcastle 1.4 fWAR, age 24 Dalbec 0.7 fWAR, age 26
  15. Peaks and valleys. It's fine for a guy making league minimum, but hard to build around him. I'd rather a consistent performer.
  16. Well, I'll sit here and wait for them to re-sign, but it hasn't happened yet.
  17. Well, I look forward to Yankee Conspiracy Tik Toks.
  18. Doubtful. With how much data we get on each pitch, it'd be hard for the MLB to come up with a scheme that would be sneaky enough to even look like that.
  19. They could just allow pitchers to throw a quick pitch for any batter that does that. Ump doesn't have to allow a time call.
  20. When fan favorites are no longer kept around, you'll see more an more grumbling. If the Sox are a mediocre 85 win team next year, you'll hear LOTS of complaints.
  21. "I actually like it every once in a while that my food is undercooked. It really keeps me guessing when I'm out to eat!"
  22. If the Sox really believe in his skill level, they'd be smart to protect him just in case. However, I agree that another team carrying him on their roster would be a substantial burden. Could it make sense for a team already at the bottom of the standings? Ward is probably the third best player on that list.
  23. Doesn't matter. If the Sox are perceived as penny pinching (Lester, Betts, Bogaerts?), fans at some point will no longer be ok with forking out a thousand bucks to take their family to a game. Seems like this year should have been the perfect storm to go over since they got to the ALCS. A few spendy moves could have pushed them into the WS.
  24. It's an upgrade if you think Dalbec won't repeat that performance. If I was GM, I'd just hold onto Dalbec and try to find him another position once Casas is ready.
