  1. WRC+ 103 for the past 4 seasons. WRC+ 101 for his career. He's the proverbial sparkplug who has memorable moments, but whose overall stats are just average. Average bat, plus defense and he can play multiple positions. He's not an All Star. He's not going to have his uni retired. He's has an important role on this team though.
  2. Ben Nicholson-Smith reported on Thursday evening that the Players Association left the league with an ultimatum to ponder: if the players do not get to play a full 162-game season with 100 percent of their salaries paid, they will not agree to an expanded postseason for the 2022 season. The players have agreed, conceptually, to an expanded postseason, but clearly, the specifics to this point do not include a guarantee of one occurring in 2022.
  3. His offense was absolutely putrid last season. I don't think anyone knows if it was an aberration or just due to being the wrong side of 30. Renfroe for JBJ and 2 prospects only makes sense if Bloom believes in a bounce back AND he really likes the prospects. Of all the moves he's made, this is the one that could blow up in his face.
  4. @MikeSilvermanBB Plan for talks between owners/ MLB and locked-out players to intensify next week. MLB wants deal by Feb. 28, or very soon after, or else regular season will be delayed.
  5. @joonlee The meeting between MLB and MLBPA is over It lasted 15 minutes
  6. @JeffPassan It depends on next week. MLB set a Feb. 28 deadline to start opening day March 31. Certainly if there's a deal, say, March 3, MLB will figure out how to start on time. But unless real, substantive progress comes -- and we haven't seen any to this point -- then it may be a while.
  7. JBJ in RF as I believe he has a stronger arm.
  8. Almost 182 pesos.
  9. Former poster UN? sitting at home waiting on that $32M check coming his way...
  10. @JeffPassan Juan Soto turned down a 13-year, $350 million contract from the Washington Nationals before the lockout, according to this @Enrique_Rojas1 report. In the story, Soto confirms the offer.
  11. The price of a low A baseball game in 2022 will be more expensive than what I paid in the 90's if you include concessions.
  12. I think 30 days is enough for ST. I wonder if they will even start this season with expanded rosters to help the pitchers?
  13. Meet Niko Kavadas: Boston Red Sox prospect has big home run power and ‘chip’ on his shoulder
  14. When will Opening Day be?
  15. I believe expanded playoffs have already been agreed upon.
  16. https://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/2298659/mlbs-luxury-tax-proposal-is-trying-to-squeeze-a-cap-on-salaries Since 2003, MLB revenue has increased by $6.5B and due to revenue sharing, all owners are reaping the benefits. The lux tax cap has only increased by $89M over that time and only a handful of teams spend that much. If the luxury tax kept pace with revenue, the cap would now be $312M. It was $102M less than that last season.
  17. Looking forward to Niko Kavadas highlights this season. https://twitter.com/SoxSpects/status/1493967883860328448
  18. Yes. A big part of the problem is that the cap is only increasing 1-2% a year. We know, or at least believe, that revenues are increasing at a much higher rate than that.
  19. Other leagues don't have restrictions where most players can't reach FA until they are 29.
  20. It in effect creates a real cap. That's a no to the players.
  21. The owners believe one of their significant concessions is backing off a proposal that would punish any team that went over the lux cap with draft pick penalties in year 1. Laughable.
  22. @AdamRubinMedia I’ll say this and then stop: The Mets told me a looong time ago, before anything like this was public, that they tried to help him, as did his agent. So they weren’t willfully blind to what was going on because they were getting performance.
  23. I've heard that some people use certain strains of weed to concentrate. Maybe oxy was just used to be less stressed out? IDK. Was never my thing. When I was given a prescription for it, I just gave it away.
  24. At least we aren't Angels fans today. @TJQuinnESPN Harvey says he tried oxycodone in 2019. Got it from Tyler Skaggs. Didn't like how it felt. Harvey says he shared Percocets with Skaggs. "He had asked me... if I had anything and I think I said I had" either Percocet or oxy at the time. Harvey: Skaggs asked him for pills before a couple of road trips in June '19. Including one where he said he wanted oxy to feel "loosey goosey" before a start. Harvey says in June 30 2019, the day the Angels flew to Texas, he found out last minute he wasn't going. Was upset to miss out and hid from other players. Says he discussed getting a blue oxy from Kay, Kay put it in his locker. Didn't take it that day. Next day He woke and heard about Skaggs. Before he heard cause of death, he threw out the blue pill, afraid something would happen to him. Harvey says he used in clubhouse and dugout. Skaggs told him he crushed and snorted oxy on the toilet paper dispenser in the clubhouse bathroom.
  25. Someone asked the question about Lugo vs Blaze. He said "huge value in a shortstop vs 1b." I get it, but I'm not sure I believe that Lugo can be an everyday SS at MLB level. I don't believe he has an Andrelton Simmons glove. He's performing worse with the bat than Simmons did at his age. IDK. I just don't see it with Lugo. I agree with the argument, but not the player.
