  1. "Negate" is fine. Partially negate is not.
  2. Molson is 5.0. Labatt's Blue is 5.0. Budweiser is 5.0. Coors Banquet is 5.0.
  3. Do you really think they water down the beer? I just think they sell lite beer or crappy IPA's. I think the plastic cups probably cheapen the experience as well.
  4. No, it was the NLRB.
  5. Stop using partially negate. It's not the proper usage. Quite a head scratcher.
  6. If the average Joe can afford $10 for a pack of cigarettes and $75 for a tank of gas, they can afford $60 to go to Fenway! A ticket plus a hot dog and a beer is cheaper than filling that gas tank!
  7. Manfred is great at uniting fans against him.
  8. Have Baseball Commissioners always been this bad? Manfred - everything Selig - ruins ASG, says all small market teams that aren't the Brewers may need to be contracted, PED explosion Vincent - took over 5 year term of Giamatti but couldn't even make it that long, wanted to get rid of DH, 1990 lockout, wanted lifetime suspension for Steve Howe and Showalter for testifying on Howe's behalf Giamatti - bans Rose, dies 8 days later Ueberroth - collusion and steroids Kuhn - labor strikes, barred Mays and Mantle due to casino promotion, moved games away from daytime, Flood lawsuit
  9. What is partial negation? Partial negation refers to negation that applies to some members of a category but not to other members. For instance in the sentence, "I don't eat every kind of meat", the category is "meat", so this sentence could mean "I do not eat pork, but I do eat beef and chicken." Sometimes his diction can be a real head scratcher.
  10. The Rays make 82M a year just from TV revenue. My guess is that tickets and in person revenue varies greatly from market to market. Maybe stadium expenses are treated like marketing expenses for the tv show?
  11. Then you responded by saying "partially negate" which it doesn't even do that.
  12. Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico) It was the final week of the regular season in Puerto Rico before the playoffs begin January 4. Chase Shugart (pictured) threw three clean innings with three strikeouts across two appearances, pitching for Mayaguez, while Juan Montero appeared exclusively as a defensive replacement behind the plate for Caguas. Big leaguer Christian Vazquez has been playing first base and designated hitter for Santurce to get some at-bats in and was 4 for 22 on the week, with two runs, two RBI, a pair of strikeouts and a walk. There is one more day of regular season play before the postseason. Panama Professional Baseball League The league has entered the final week of its regular season before the playoffs begin January 11. Jonathan Arauz has slashed .200/.286/.240 across 25 at-bats so far this season, while Eduardo Vaughan has hit .242/.359/.364 in 33 at-bats. Arauz isn't getting any better. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets DFA'd in a roster crunch.
  13. The next negotiation meeting between MLB and MLBPA has yet to be scheduled.
  14. In June 2020, Rosenthal’s analysis of Manfred for The Athletic featured some light criticism, but it didn’t appear to delve into anything personal. In one piece, Rosenthal wrote, “As if the perception that Manfred is beholden to owners and out of touch with players was not bad enough, he was trending on Twitter on Monday after performing a massive flip-flop.” Since then, Rosenthal’s role was slightly diminished at the network. Now, he’s out entirely.
  15. Nope. -0.5 dWAR. -8 runs above average.
  16. And wouldn't the "big market" teams be ok with it?
  17. With Speier, just think "is it i before e or e before i" and it's both. SpEIEr.
  18. We are told that they are in on Seiya Suzuki for RF. We'll see if it happens.
  19. Per most advanced defensive stats, he was the worst RFer for the Sox since Wily Mo. His arm was lipstick on a pig.
  20. I originally read this as "So Manfred lacks humanity?" and agreed 100%.
  21. @nypost Ken Rosenthal out at MLB Network due to previous criticism of Rob Manfred
  22. Downs started the fall league off white hot and then just collapsed. He may be a JBJ type hitter without the great defense.
